We are going there for a "2nd honeymoon" this summer- I'll be lurking on this post to see any ideas posted! I've been doing tons of research- where are you guys staying at 2mnyteens??
I'd also be interested in knowing this. We probably won't be going until 2011 but it's nice to get things lined up. So far, we had been looking at the Canada side because so far, that's the only hotel I've found that I can bring the pooches with us. It'll be a long drive from Florida either way!
You're driving from FL to NIagara too? Hah- how funny! So are we!!! I heard the Canada side was nicer so we've been looking to stay there. Can't decide how cheap to go though-lol. I'm so excited- hubby & I havent had a trip to us w/out kiddos since we got married 6 yrs ago!
2mnyteens....we are going for sure on the Maid of the Mist- that is a MUST! There are several other Falls related attractions that are nice- the Journey behind the falls, the Falls Aeropool car down in the falls rapids, nearby there is an indoor waterpark, (2 actually), clifton hills entertainment has several "spooky" things to do like haunted houses, helicopters over the falls (expensive but gorgeous!), there is also a cable car that takes you up over part of the falls in a little bucket thing......there are also a lot of state parks nearby like Devils Hole to go hiking
I saw a lot of those attraction's on the hotel's website. They do look fun. We don't have kids but it's way cheaper and less hectic if we drive and bring the dogs. The hotel we're looking at offers free pet sitting/walking if you're going to be gone for more than 8 hours or if you request it. I hated leaving the dogs at a boarding facility to go on a cruise last year, it really broke my heart and they both do great in the car. Plus, it just seems so weird without them there.
We are staying at a Quality Inn. Offers free continental breakfast and is 10 minutes from the falls. Only $60 per night with an indoor pool for some exercise/entertainment. I think it's a pretty good deal. We are hoping the Maid of the Mist is open and running. They are closed until April because of ice in the river and we're going on April 2. I don't know about some of the other stuff because my daughter is in a wheelchair so we need things that she can do with us. Please keep the ideas coming!
I've never stayed on the US side, so I don't have much advice. Buffalo is fairly close, I think, so you could look into there, if you run low on things to do.
