HAPPY DANCE Looking for a Good Cruise....

Hey All!

Back in 2005, I took a cruise as my senior trip (thanks to my parents) on Carnival to Mexico. While it was a nice ship and cruise and what have you, it was very noisy, and loud, and very party all the time in ALL the halls. :hectic1:

Anyways, So My question(s) What is a good cruiseline for relaxation, but priced right? I know I won't get total quiet, but To be able to sleep at night would be GREAT.

Also, What about location?

Im looking to go on a cruise with my Fiance & family Next Spring/Summer, and Want it to be memorable.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

We have gone on several cruises. The most memorable one for us and our kids was to Alaska .. we went in August. There were 15 of us and had a great time .. there are just no words to describe how beautiful it is there. I would go back in a heartbeat ..

we went on Princess .. that is the only cruise line we have ever taken .. don't think I would go on another cruise line .. we have been very pleased w/ the service, food and the ship as a whole.

We just booked a Disney Cruise for next year (2-28-10). Kids sail free between Jan and April 15th for select 3 & 4 night cruises to the Bahamas. This will be our first, but after reading the dis boards, it seems to be a wonderful trip. Since it's a family setting, I can only imagine that people are much better behaved than the "hook up" cruises.

I cannot wait!

I don't think it's so much the cruise line you choose, although I've heard that Carnival is known for the partying, as much as when and where you cruise. Try to pick a place that is not known for partying, go when most college and high schoolers are still in class and most of all check out cruisecritic.com for everything cruise related. These are some of my best tips:
Once you know of a cruise you want, go to cruisecompete.com and type in your info. to get cruise prices sent to your email. The individual travel agents won't get your email address, the quotes will come through your free account with cruisecompete. Don't pay the total up front, just your deposit and then watch for a better price and if you see the price reduced call your travel agent. Just make sure you do this before you make the final payment. Also, look on cruisecritic under roll calls and join in the conversation with others on your cruise.

We have cruised many times, and like the above poster said the crowd onboard has a lot to do with timing!

We travel in the Fall (Oct or Dec) and there are less kids & 20 somethings. Actually it's mostly elderly and family reunion type groups. These would be perfect for you since you want quiet! On our last 3 Carnival cruises we went to the bars/discos at night and they were empty! We couldnt find the party if we wanted too!!

And the length of the cruise is also a big factor, the younger wilder crowds seem to enjoy the 3/4 days, as a family we prefer 7+ days. We are going on a 4 day in two weeks but it is on the Disney cruise so Im sure it should be pretty tame!

I would suggest Holland America or Royal Caribbean, they have lots of activities for everyone and prices arent too bad!

We have been on the Norway, from Norwegian Cruiselines, and it was a nice relaxing cruise. They arent party boats, but cruising boats, know what I mean? And we got a super deal thru travelocity.

I've never been on a Viking cruise line ship but I have been getting offers from them with some really amazing prices.

Disney just released Alaksa and European cruises for 2011 and kids sail free early next year. The kids sail free one is a very good deal.

Also RC has had some good deals as well going on.
