HELP One week till Disney Trip

We are leaving next Saturday for Disney World. It is our first trip and it literally just hit me how fast the trip has come.

So can someone tell me what the weather is like down there? I am just freaking out about hurricanes. Can someone tell me how much the toll roads are? I need to make sure I have cash put aside.

anyone have any tips about it.

We are staying in All sports and doing a park a day.

I am finally getting excited.

Thanks!

It has been a very quiet Hurricane season, I wouldn't worry about that. The weather is HOT
Orlando Weather Forecast and Conditions Florida

I don't have info on the tolls, but you could probably find out through AAA, or maybe Google Maps.

I would bring in bottled water, the beverages are very costly in the park.

Can't help with weather or tolls but you are gonna have a blast.

I reccommend buying the refillable mug for your resort. They were about $10 maybe $15 last time we were there, but you get free refills on soda, coffee, hot chocolate etc the duration of your stay. Well worth it and we brought lanyards to attach them to our backpack to have in the parks to have water.

Have fun :)

I hope you have a great time!

We're going to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure on Saturday. We live just over an hour away so it won't be a long trip for us. I want to take advantage of the free admission coupon we got in the mail a few months ago.

I assume you'll be driving to Disney from the airport in Orlando? I found info saying the toll will be $2.00.

Although it's still really hot in Florida this time of year(high 80's/low 90's), it hasn't been quite as bad as usual. Take your coolest outfits and pack plenty of sunscreen.

And don't worry about hurricanes. It's no coincidence that once I moved here in 2005, there hasn't been more than a few small tropical storms in the area. Apparently I keep the hurricanes away.

We are Disney addicts. I know this is easy for me to say because we go there frequently vs. a one time deal, but the best piece of advice I can give is to relax and don't over do. We frequently hear from friends who have gone to Disney and then come back and tell us they can't undertand why we enjoy it so much because all they did was wait in lines or been on one roller coaster seen it all. A park a day is a busy schedule. That doesn't even give you time to enjoy the hotel pool and other stuff like Downtown Disney.

I am sure you have done a lot of planning, but if you haven't found the Disboards yet, that is a great website where you can get alot of information. Allearsnet is also a great one that also has the restaurants and their menus which always helps me get an idea of the places where we may want to eat. I always like to get an idea in advance of the park hours and which ones have extra magic hours on which days before hand. It also helps, especially this time of year, because some of parks and attractions have limited operating hours or some of the parades are only on certain nights. You don't want to plan on going to the Magic Kindgom on Wed to find out that the only night they are doing the Spectromagic Light parade only on Thursday night or miss the Fantasmic show at MGM for the same reason.

We have had many many trips to Disney and we have not even put a dent in all the stuff there is to do there. It is easy for us to slow down because we know we will be there again. However, I cannot stress it enough even if it is a once in a lifetime vacation. I think it is better to enjoy 25% of something then to rush to see 100% and miss out on the magic.

Hope this helps and if you have any specific questions, feel free to pm me.

Yay for your first trip. We are leaving in 3 weeks for our Disney vacation and I can't wait. We stayed at All Star Sports during our trip last October. Our kids always love all the big decorations (for lack of a better word at the moment) outside the hotel like the big foosball area and the Mighty Ducks Mask. Very cool. We have always loved the all star resorts but this trip coming up will be our first time in a moderate resort.

We have gone during September or October for every trip except one and have always had great weather (knock on wood).

We had to drive into Orlando from Barefoot Bay each day that we went to Sea World during our last spur of the moment vacation since we weren't staying in Orlando and going to parks everyday and the tolls varied from 75 cents, $1.00, $1.50 up to $2.00.

Tips:

Definitely utilize the fastpass and childswaps for rides. When you are at Hollywood Studios you should head IMMEDIATELY over to the Toy Story Mania ride and try to get a fastpass. That is the newest ride in the park and when we were there last year the fastpass for that ride was always gone very early in the day as they only give out so many for each time frame. We got our fastpass at like 9:30am but our actual ride wasn't until 6:30 that night!!

Are you doing free dining? If you are eating lunch or dinner in Epcot near the UK there is a little McDonald's stand there. We tried to get our kids to try something different but they just wanted McDonalds. There is a really great Fish N Chips place near the McDonald's that the grown ups can eat at (they have the best shortbread cookies!!) and you can pick up McDonald's for the kids to carry over with you and the McDs meal is a GREAT value. For a quick service credit you can get a 10 piece chicken nugget meal, fries, a drink and a McFlurry!! Our 3 year old wasn't on the dining plan so he was able to split that with my older son and they still had food left over! I haven't checked if that meal is still offered on the DP this year but it was the last time we were there.

Have a great trip!!!
