cheap ideas for week in maui

we got an awesome deal on a hotel for the week after next week in maui ($105 for all week). we are trying to plan things to do as cheap as possible. any suggestions?

I don't have any ideas for you, sorry! But I was wondering if you could tell me how much your flight tickets are and what hotel you are using. I've been looking to travel to Maui, but the flights cost and arm and a leg. Did you find a good deal?

Contact the Chamber of Commerce or speak to the someone at the hotel.
I would be happy just to walk around or rent a bike and see the beauty of the place.

Yes, I know two things. Food, especially meat is VERY expensive there. The good news is they do have a Costco there! For lunch/dinner the Hot Dogs are still $1.50, including a drink.
There are microwaves in some rooms there, too, to eat frozen meals.

We found a great deal like that about 10 yrs ago too and loved every second. We rented a really cheap car (once we got there @ airport) and did all the sightseeing ourselves & you really can, the island is not that big. You MUST drive "The Road to Hana", you must get up the first morning that you are there and drive to Mt. Haleakala and watch the sunrise!!! You must go to the planeterium. Maui is one of the most diverse Hawaiian Islands IMO and there is SO much to see & do that really doesn't cost much. We only ate 1 meal out per day and they have some chains i.e. Planet Hollywood, Wolfgang Puck's & this was 10 yrs ago. We made sandwiches to eat beachside while out sightseeing during the day. Have fun.

I haven't done this, but a few of our friends did.

There are different attractions to do which are somewhat costly (like ride the bicycle down from seeing the sunrise at the volcano Haleukula-probably spelling wrong), road to hana attraction, snorkeling...etc.

Instead of paying full price, my friends attended a short presentation for time share (something similar) and they got to go to those events at a much cheaper price and some close to free.
They told me the presentation was pretty short and no hard sale was done afterwards.

Since I have not tried it myself I can't attest to it, but maybe someone here will know more......

And maybe also do a google search with keywords like "cheap or free things to do in Maui". I notice quite a few links....

See if you can find an Entertainment Book when you arrive.

If you had time to order one, you can find organizations which can get them for $16 instead of the $35 (+ shipping???) which you would pay if you order on your own. Delivery date for mine will be Dec 1st-8th.
