I love Ocean City, MD !! You can park your car, and never use it for the entire time you are there!! They have buses that run all day and night, for about $2.00 p/person and that ticket works for the entire day!! Tons of things to do for people of all ages, nice beaches and worth the trip!! Yes, prices are a little high, but IMO, it really is worth it!!

I spent every summer in OC growing up, it is a blast. Ocean front is nice but more expensive. Bay side a little cheaper and maybe slighty quieter (oc is noisy). On bayside sometimes you can get a place where you can crab off a pier which is a cheap way to spend some time. Definately plan on using the buses, well worth it. NEVER, EVER cross Ocean highway anywhere other than at a crosswalk!!!! Very dangerous thing to do and many people have been struck and killed there jaywalking. SPending time on the boardwalk people watching is fun and as long as you can avoid the numerous temptations can be done inexpensively-temptations are dumpsers ice cream, fishers popcorn, thrashers fries, bull on the beach sandwiches--oh my I'm hurting myself thinking of it!!

We always stay outside of OC. The prices are alot more affordable, and the rooms are NICER. Give yourself PLENTY of time to get around if you dont take the bus.
Every hotel, except for our Fairfield/Wyndham timeshare (coconut Grove or something like that) has been FULL of ants.
The best buffet meal In OC for about $25 a person is The Bonfire, on the main strip. However, its only open evenings.
Even for shopping, Rehoboth Beach, the hotels are yuk. We plan stays in Salisbury or in between Salisbury & OC, then drive over to OC.
We just got back and stayed at the Monte Carlo on 3rd and boardwalk. It has an indoor pool and a pool on the roof. I liked staying on the boardwalk as we have two little ones.
I recommend bringing a cooler of drinks and snacks. Boardwalk food is expensive! There are coupon booklets in hotel lobbies like dough roller pizza $2 off.
If you are looking for some nightlife, around 57th (I might have the street # wrong) is a very popular nightclub Seacrets that has live music/bands every night and usually no cover charge until a certain time. Dh and I went (sister babysat) and there were couples age 21-61 there having a blast!
Also the traffic is horrendous getting there on the weekend. We left on a Monday a.m. and it was fine.
