    Default Hawaii..

    Hi all,
M parents are taking a trip to Hawaii for thjeir 25th wedding anniversary (awww!!!, I know!) Anyway, my dad is always so interested in the deals I get by reading this website and from all the great posters here- He lets me tell him my big brags over and over lol- so I owe it to him to try and get him some deals.
Anyway, the vacation is paid for- but I am hoping to help him with q's or advice on how to sightsee affordably. Are there coupon booklets out there for this stuff? I know they want to see pearl harbor.
Thanks so much for your help- I can send a fun envie of q's to anyone that helps!!:smile77:

You didn't say where your parents will be, but since they want to see Pearl Harbor I'm going to assume they will be staying on Oahu. For cheap meals, I'd suggest they go to the international market right off of Waikiki. They have evening entertainment and you can get meals at many of the little restaurants. It's set up sort of like a food court at a Mall. There are many different kinds of foods - Thai, Asian, American, etc. and the prices aren't bad, plus you get the free entertainment.

We also rented a car for one day and drove around the island stopping at the many different beaches. Our only cost for that day was the price of the car. We purchased food for a picnic lunch to bring along.

On Oahu, the Aloha fleamarket has some great deals, and it's fun just to wander around. I would also go on a dinner cruise, they usually run around $30-$40.
The polynesian cultural center is awesome, but a little pricey. All day with the luau is maybe $70, but that includes dinner. Go to the North shore to Matsumoto Shave ice. It's really just fun snow cones, but it's been there since 1951 and has great history.
My favorite beach is Malekahana. It isn't crowded like most of the beaches Malekahana, Oahu

Here's a link for a free vacation planner, it will give them some ideas.

I would also start planning now, and then once they get there they can pick up "coupon booklets" anywhere like hotels of restaurants with coupons and deals in them.

You may want to see about getting them the Hawaii version of the Entertainment book. We used that last year while on Oahu and Maui. We used a few coupons and saved on meals and attractions.

We also used it to save 50% off our condo, but since their vacation is already paid for, those coupons won't help them.

If they need help with determining what to do and what to see, they should visit trip advisor.com (hope it's okay to post that)
We got lots of great info on Hawaii there....trip reviews along with hotel reviews. I found it invaluable to our planning.

    HTH!

L J......wish we were going back to Hawaii this year...but have to wait for DH to get a job.
