HELP Need help w/travelling to KY. Possibly Lexington...

Our anniversary is coming up in a few mos and we've been given the opportunity for a wkend away. We don't wanna go too far and eat up all our time driving. So we're thinking of somewhere in KY. Like Lexington, Louisville, or somewhere south of Lexington. I'm thinking Lexington...

Can anyone help me w/things to do? Free sightseeing, etc? I was thinking that the natural bridge was outside of Lexington?? Children will NOT be coming along for this little roadtrip. Mommy and daddy need some alone time. Just curious to know what stores are around this area too so I can do a little cpn shopping as well to try to get some good deals while I am gone.

Also, it would be helpful to know if there are any Holiday Inns or chain affiliates in the area too, as that's where we'll be staying so I can cash in my pts.

TIA for any info and help!!!

Search the "Bourbon Trail", you visit several distillaries, tour and sample the drink. Its relaxing. You meet other couples doing the same thing. This is done over a two day period. As for a hotel, please look up the 21C Museum and Hotel in Louisville. Its very unique, has a great resturant and the location enables you a walking tour of Louisville.

Hi! I grew up and went to school in Central Kentucky and can tell you that the area has lots to offer. Natural Bridge is near Lexington, but not extremely close. It is off the Mountain Parkway in a town called Slade. There are lots of free hiking/walking trails and driving tours to take in the Red River Gorge area. The Gladie cabin and Nada tunnel are fun things to see close to Natural Bridge. This webpage has lots of details on the Gorge: Red River Gorge Geological Area

Kentucky has more state resort parks (SRP) than any other state, and they have very reasonable rates. There is a SRP at Natural Bridge and I can tell you from experience that the Lodge there has great food and the rooms are comfortable and reasonable. Kentucky State Parks - Home The website has a lot of info and they even have a coupon for $50/night stays at select SRPs through May 21st!

There are several Holiday Inns throughout Lexington and in Winchester and Richmond, which are East and South of Lexington. To save money, you might find that smaller towns around Lexington like Georgetown, Winchester, Mount Sterling, and Richmond have lower prices on things like gasoline, hotels, etc.

Stores in the area for your couponing are Krogers, Meijers, Wal-Mart, CVS, RiteAid, Walgreens. Hope that helps!
