Colorado

We are planning to go to Colorado next fall either early November or the weekend before Christmas. We will have a 1 year old flying with us for the first time.
Need advice badly on where to go and stay. I have never been there so any advice would be really appreciated. We will be flying into Denver (we have free airline vouchers from a previous airline mess).
We picked Denver because the flight will be short from Texas in case our ds hates to fly.

If I were you I would try to go in early fall. Weather there changes on a dime especially in November and December.
Places I would suggest are Rocky Mountain National Park. If going in early fall the Aspen trees are just starting to change to a beautiful golden yellow and the bull elks start to bugel in the fields in the park because it its mating season.Friends of mine have told me it is something else to experience.When I lived there I got to see the park but never got to experience the elks bugeling.
I would also suggest making the drive to Colorado Springs to see the Air Force Academy, Pikes peak , and Garden of the Gods. The academy's grounds and Chapel are just beautiful to see and the views are awsome. Garden of the Gods are rock formations that are amazing.
