Any good packages for Aruba or Dominican Republic?

DH and I are thinking about going to Aruba or the Domican Republic sometime in march. Has anyone been to either? And if so where did you stay? We found some good deals for Domican Republic. We want to keep it around 2,500.00 for all inclusive.

We went their for our honeymoon (Aruba) and LOVED it. No real tips about saving, a friend of ours gave us their time share for the week so that helped but not something everyone can do. Everyone there was very nice though and spoke very good English and they have one of the lowest crimes rates in the world. Its very clean and by law half the island is undeveloped. Very beautiful. It's a desert island with strong trade winds so about 82-85 all the time but the trade winds make it quite pleasant in the shade.

I was up late last night researching deals on travelocity and the best I found was 4 nights at the Gran Bahia all inclusive resort in Punta Cana, Domincan Republic for $2,200.00. Anyone ever stayed there. It got good reviews and looks nice. Its either that or Vegas lol. DH wants to go to Vegas again and I would much rather relax on a nice beach!!

Yes there was one here recently both on Aruba and the Dominican Republic....They were pretty good.....Beautiful Places!!

We stayed in Punta Cana - I beleive it was called Catalonia Bavaro. HORRIBLE!!!

No A/C at night, in fact...no power at all at night (they turn it off to save energy).

"Steakhouse" was horrible!!!!!!!! Outdoor spaces were full of flies. Really Gross. Hated every minute of this resort, althought the pictures were very nice and it looked like a great place, I was wrong. Staff spoke very little English and they were very rude.

Our family stayed at Sunscape and loved it. I thought it was better there when we went to visit, but not a perfect 10. Probably the best you're going to get in Punta Cana, DR.

Have you thought about Rivera Maya, Mexico? It is just south of Playa Del Carmen, which is just south of Cancun. It is a really nice area and have some very lovely resorts. We have been to the Aventura and got a great deal for 4 days $1600 all inclusive. Great Food, great service, beautiful resort, couldn't ask for more! Flights were cheap in/out of cancun and resort picks you up at the airport. I found a better price on Travelocity than the hotel directly, but they offer specials as well (free swimming with dolphins was the last promo I saw).

i agree. i hated the dominican republic. we stayed all inclusive as well. I went against my better judgement and chose the dr instead of another destination. I didnt want to go in the first place and would not go there again. We went about 4 weeks ago for 8 nights. Never again.
