Default From Houston to Dallas/Ft. Worth

Next weekend DBF and I will be making the trek from Houston up to Dallas to see his dad. We're looking for some fun things to do up there that aren't too terribly expensive. Any ideas? Places you love to go? Great places to eat besides Mickey D's lol?

We've already decided to go to the mattel outlet store ( my choice)
and he's been looking for great deals on cowboy tickets or other sporting events.

Also which Newspaper in the area around the old Football stadium carries the coupons? Lol. I ask like that because I know his dad lives like 1 exit from there but wasn't sure it that is Ft. Worth or Dallas or what. ( Yes Iknow i'm silly but I don't get out much haha)

TIA!

Our Coupons are in both the Star Telegram and the Dallas Morning News, on Sunday morning you can get a double Star Telegram for $1.99 and it has two complete sets of coupons in it.

If you like the flea market thing, we have traders village, it is off of Mayfield and 360, not to far from where you will be. It's an all weekend event so you can go whenever.

What kind of foods do you like? We have some really nice restruants that aren't too frugal... And then there are a few great little restruarants that won't break the bank.

The Dallas Aquarium is nice, and we have the Ft. Wirth zoo if it isn't to cold. Don't waste your money on the Dallas Zoo, it is kinda run down. :(

Lots of night life but you live in the Houston area so it's about the same I would think.

We also have the Botantical Garden in Ft. Worth, it is beautiful. A lot of photographers take people here to do pictures and most of it is free, they do have one area that is a buck or two to get into. So if you are looking to take some outside pics this is your place. I take my kids there to do there pictures myself.

We have malls out the wazooo but they are crazy packed this time of year.

We also have the rush hour traffic, so plan for that. Coming into the metroplex for the weekend shouldn't be too bad, but getting anywhere from 4-6 on a Friday night will take you a little longer. And by a little longer, I mean anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours, seriously... And you don't run into many nice drivers that will let you in, evreyone is in too big of a hurry.

If you go to Waco, and then head up 35 you can stop at the Hillsboro outlet center.

Six Flags should also be having Christmas in the Park!

Let me know what kind of stuff you are looking for and I will try to be for helpful...

My daughter lives just outside of Ft. Worth, so I emailed her to see what she had to say. She's a single girl, 29 and on a budget!

Here's a copy of the email she sent. I hope it helps:

If they like Mexican Chimy's is pretty cheap and you get a whole lotta food. Especially if you order nachos. http://www.chimys.com/
The Fuzzy Taco is cheap as well and highly recommended. http://www.fuzzystacoshop.com/
I am sure they have Jason's Deli in houston as well but the salad bar is like 8 bucks with a bowl of soup...a little healthy
If they are drinkers Razoo's...there a few locations in FW and they have $1.50 drafts all the time. The food is priced pretty fairly considering it is mostly seafood.
Tommy's Hamburgers are really good and decently priced. http://www.tommyshamburgergrill.com/
On the Boarder has half priced Apps from 3-7.
We don't have good Chinese...lol
Mama's Pizza is good and there are always coupons on their site. http://www.mamaspizzas.net/
oh if they go down to the stock yards Risckys Steakhouse has a $8 lunch steak, baked potato & salad.
I will see if I can come up with anything else.

OMG Thank you so much! Reps to you! Well we might have one semi-nice dinner with his father but during the day we'd be into something more frugal/casual.

I'll def. be picking up a double star and heading to the flea market! I hope the temp gos back up so maybe we could go to the ft. worth zoo I haven't been to the one in Houston in a couple of years.

So much good info!
