We are going next September, so I am already starting to save and plan. We are going during the free dining promotion (assuming they have it again next year) so that saves alot of money. We stay at the value resorts because we don't spend much time in the room anyway, so that saves us alot of money compared to the more expensive resorts. I'm sure I'll think of more things, I just have to get back into planning and saving mode....it's been 2 years since we've been

Sign up for the Mousesavers newsletter. She sends it out on the 15th of every month and there is a link to a ticket broker that has great prices on Disney tickets. This broker is a "Disney parks USA Selected Ticket Seller".

themouseforless dot com (can I post links?) research their forum.
They are to Disney what we are to deals & coupons.
And if you're going full-bore vacation (not just one day or so), their preferred travel agent is awesome. The Magic For Less Travel. They automatically apply any coupons/savings that come out, and our pkg even came to a couple hundred dollars less than what they first quoted.
And, little known tip- Ice water (in a cup, not bottled) is free at B&M restaurants (but not the carts). Just ask for a Cup of Ice Water.
Take koolaid singles and the kids drink free.
Should you time it right for the "free dining" and research the menus properly, you eat like Kings.
We did 10 days (all at disney) with 3 people, for less then $2500.00 for everything.

I would say my best move was working with Francine at www.olptravel.com she is awesome!! Found us the best deal and continued to look for better deals after we booked. She also made all our dining reservations, recommended places to eat for us, and moved our dining ressies about 100 times for me b/c I couldn't make up my mind. All with never a complaint! I can't wait to book our next 10 trips with her!

We'll be taking our sixth trip this Thanksgiving and I could not do it without the help of www.disboards.com! There you will find anything and everything you ever wanted to needed to know about Disney! I also agree about Mousesavers as well as mouseforless.com when you're looking for the best deals!

we took granola bars and nutrigrain bars to use for breakfast ( not big breakfast eaters) and trail mix to tuck into our fanny packs for snacks. (two adults, no munchkins)

the portion sizes are pretty big so most of the time we were able to split one meal(or we would buy the kids meals-they usually come with a toy or cup as a souvenir too)...also the animal kingdom has fresh fruit-we bought a little extra to have in the room later.

the pressed penny machines are probably the cheapest souvenir you'll be able to find...later glue them into a scrapbook or buy a book at one of the gift shops at Disney.

take a small first aid kit or at least bandaids, neosporin and gauze/tape. I had a major blister problem and ran out of supplies....keeping in mind this was a little over ten years ago....a SMALL (5 count) box of bandaids was 5 bucks! find a corner of your suitcase and you won't add to the pain you're already in from the stupid blister!

Thanks so much for the tips. We have wanted to take our 4 children to Disney but are cringing about how much it will be with a family of six traveling.

There is just something I really want to take the children to see. So I need all the help, deals and tricks that have worked for everyone including a large family driving down.

Not sure how well the drive down will be with four kiddos but we will manage.

I'm originally from Kissimmee/St. Cloud and have been to Disney many times in my life, so feel free to PM me if you have any particular questions, like what else to do in the area, etc.

We live in Tallahassee now, so when we go down there, we stay in the Seralago hotel in Kissimmee. It's only about a 5-10 minute drive to Disney and they have a free shuttle that heads over there a couple times per day. It's not too expensive. We get it extremely cheap for military, but they also have other kinds of discounts that you might be able to get. It's a really nice hotel and not much money. It's right next to a mini golf course and also Old Town/Fun Station which is a lot of fun. The website is Kissimmee Hotel: Seralago Hotel & Suites, an Affordable Family Hotel near Disney if you're interested.

I hope ya'll have a great trip and PM me with any questions.
