I love the www.disboards.com as well they have a ton of info.
I use a vacation planner with www.magicaltravel.com and shes been great! Found us a code, made all my dining and has saved us some money. I also got a nice welcome packet in the mail from her with some fun stuff for the kids and info about Disney after we booked.
Her name is Kelly and her email is KellyR@magicaltravel.com

Good Luck

News Re: Planning for Disney World...

Our son and his wife & kids returned from Disneyworld in August. They rented a house with another family friend of theirs that was within walking distance of DisneyWorld. It was a week rental and both families shared the expenses. They fixed most of their meals at home and said it was a cheaper way to go because all of the hotels were expensive & to eat at any where in Disney even with a coupon, it was not cheap.

There is actually a free dining promotion out right now for December. Go to the disboards.com and look for the resorts board and then codes and rates. Free food tastes better!

We're going next month and I started saving $40 a week. I opened up a separate savings account an the bank automatically transfers the money on Fridays so I don't have to remember. If you do this every week for a year it comes to $2080.

Also I really love allears.net! They have a great database of tips.

We always use Hotwire or Priceline to find our hotel when going to DisneyWorld. Check out Priceline and Hotwire Forum for help with bidding. I recently booked a 3.5 star hotel through priceline for $29 a night. It turned out to be a Days Inn Suites, and it's only 5 minutes away from the Maingate.

We were just in Orlando and stayed at the SeaWorld Residence Inn. We were able to get a $79 per night rate. They had a kitchen in the room with full size fridge, oven/stove, microwave, dishwasher and a complete set of dishes, pans, etc. They also had outdoor grills. It was really close to Publix so I brought my coupons with me and went grocery shopping. I am not sure if there is transport to Disney from there, it is only about 5-10 minutes away. But there is a public transport bus stop in walking distance which might take people to Disney. It was a very nice hotel and we plan to stay there next time we're in Orlando. They also had a zero-entry pool and a playground, so the kids were entertained.

Plus in the lobby they had tons of coupon books for area restaurants and attractions. If you went to a short time-share presentation they would give you discounted tickets to SeaWorld or Disney.

HELP Disney World tips

My children will be six and four next fall and I thought it would be wonderful to go to Disney World while they are really into it.

I have just goggle some info and viewed sticker shock.

I know you all have found wonderful deals. I would love to hear all the suggestions on how to share money at the most Magical (but expensive) place on earth.

I figure I have a year or at least six months to start really saving.

Thanks
Kate

The best place to start your research is on DISboards.com All sorts of reading info there. My family of four is going for 6 days for about $1800. Also check out allears.net. They have tons of info there.

Good luck! It really is the most magical place on earth.

If you think you can tolerate the heat, September they usually have free dining. We went this past year and it was GREAT! The money we saved alone on the food was well worth it and it was not overly crowded since most are still in school. I actually used a travel agent I found here on hcw and she booked all my dining reservations for me, so less stress on me. I am from TX so the heat didn't worry me. Feel free to pm me if you have more questions.
Actually my avatar is of one of my little ones at Animal Kingdom imitating the Tigers.
