Vacation for 6 to Avalon, New Jersey?

We have not been on a family vacation before, sad but true. This is our first with our four children, call us homebodies I guess.

We wanted to go to a beach in Jersey since were in Pa. We wanted a beach that is clean, not rough so we stumbled across Avalon's beach. The questions are where to find a campground near there for our home on wheels for a few days?

It doesn't have to be right in Avalon but pretty close. We also maybe want to take a day to take the kids to Wildwood. We have never been to these places so we are newbies. I do have to say we all love fresh seafood!

We are on a budget so expensive things we will have to pass, along with expensive food. Any seafood places, campgrounds, sights that are good and kid friendly?

Avalon is pretty clean but a tad boring.. there really isn;t much to do wiht kids except for the beach... now Wildwood is a heck of a lot better.. it;s got the best beaches in New Jersey and they are free!!!... there is also the boardwalk at night with tons of games and lots of piers with rides (www.moreyspiers.com)..also there is an awesome dolphin boat ride called the Silver Bullet(Silver Bullet).. Also there are tons of campgrounds along Rt 47 and Rt 9 (the main roads into and around Wildwood)

oh and in Wildwood...some of the best food places...
pizza-Mack's
fries- Curle;y (by Gateway 26 arcade)
ice cream- Kohr's Bros on the boardwalk or Scoops on 9th St.

places to see and do in the area--
Silver Bullet dolphin cruise
Sunset Beach in Cape May (only about a 20 minute ride from Wildwood)
Ghost Tours in Cape May

Thanks for the info! We are going to Cape May, Wildwood, and Avalon. So a little bit of everything I guess. We love seafood so any places that are near those places that you want to give a thumbs up give a shout:)

Dont know if this is too late to be helpful,but Cape May county has a free zoo,not very big but nice for free.You can just Google for the website and directions from wherever you are staying.

I am not familiar with any places to park a camper in the Avalon area, but then it's not something we do, so I would not notice. Good luck.
