When dh and I lived in SD we got a season pass to seaworld....we would go there on the weekends just to have picnicks, so you should be able to bring food....we did all the time. The restaraunts are outrageous.
Oh and also watch out for the seagulls stealing your food.
The Manatee exibit was a nice cooler area we had picnics in sometimes. There is a concrete bench alongside the aquarium, and when there are not that many people in there it is much better than sitting out in the blazing sun.
Seaworld in SD is, in my opinion, the best one to go to.
Try to catch as many shows as possible....they are great...especially the comedy sea lion show (for the kids), the Cirque show, and of course the Shamu show.
During the summer they also have a firework show (I think after the last Shamu show) at night around 9 PM I think...not sure if it is only weekends.
    Have fun

Thanks for the tips! Since you lived there - from Sea world - what would be the best/easiest way to get to the beach? I am wanting to take my nephew there, just for a quick picture, either before or after we go to sea world.

Well I havent lived there for about 7 yrs so my braing is a little foggy on the streets...but I do remember that Mission beach and Ocean Beach are really close (Mission Beach is the closest but the neighborhood around Ocean Beach is cooler...a true ocean front Community...very kitch).
I think you take W. Mission Bay dr. from Seaworld to get to Mission Beach...I am not sure about getting to Ocean Beach.
I am sure you can Mapqest them.

We go to Seaworld quite a bit. We have never had a problem taking unopened water bottles, crackers and sandwiches in a small backpack each. They do search bags at the entrance. I do not know what the official policy is, you should check the website, which also has a schedule of showtimes as getting to see all the shows you want takes a bit of planning. People start lining up for the shows at least 30 minutes early in the summer.
You can also keep a cooler in your car and go out to the parking lot - park by a tree - which will take the same amount of time as lining up in a restaurant. You pay $10 parking - you might as well get your money's worth.

Well according to their website, you can't take any food or drink in. Did they search your bags when you had bottled water in it? Did they say any thing about that?

I am not sure what to tell you about that....we always took in food, we were way too poor to buy it there....but that was a long time ago.
I think maybe the info on their website may be a bluff...because I dont see how they can deny people like diabetics the ability to eat if they dont have enough money for the food there.
Maybe you can just try to bring in the water and leave food in the car like the pp suggested. Maybe if you are going to have problems, they will be less likely to get in an uproar about water.

Yes we have taken water bottles in and crackers etc and the bag searchers have let us. They have always been unopened smaller size water bottles and we each carry our own so only one in a backpack. I haven't been there since Christmas so I do not know if the policy has changed. I am sure you would get stopped with a cooler or a huge food supply. Keeping perishable food in your vehicle is a good idea as you do not want to carry it around in the heat anyway.

Funstuff Re: Sea World San Diego?

hi, getting to OB (name cracks me.. tampons, anyway)
Ocean Beach, is easy, simply take 8 west and it drives right into it.. turn left... and to get to the ocean
turn right.. not sure which street, but its tiny area..
and its um pretty hard to miss the ocean out there!!!
    Lol ... enjoy~

Also.. the rafting ride.. HA for when the line says 1 hr.. means 3 hrs..
Best time, to go rafting is late at night.. we still had an hr wait.. (tho it said 15 mins).. its lasts like 3-5 mins..
fun, but the lines are killer!!

Personally, I say treat yourself to some good food, at seaworld, wish i could remember the restaurant..
    it was worth the $$..

Bring tons of sunscreen, hats, the firework show is cool..for free, I think its worth it lol.. but 50 bucks per adult AND Child.. pretty steep...

kids love it and the shamu show is fun... as are the others..

    have fun!
