Default Cape Cod vacation ideas

My family wants to do a reunion next year end of May or June.
We want to go to someplace different. My daughter would love to go to Cape Cod. We are looking at either cabin/cottages or inexpensive hotel/motels. What things can we do as a group? The group would include my parents (70's) myself and husband, daughter and husband, my 3 sons (20's) my sisters family 2 girls (late teens)

Any websites or ideas would be greatly appreciated

Teresa

If I am not mistaken, Jane4girls was up this way last year, maybe she can chime in, or perhaps search out her thread from last year.

Cape Cod Chip Factory, Ocean Spray factory, Fall River/New Bedford as side trip, Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Plantation, Boston as a day trip,

The Falmouth Inn in Falmouth, MA has fairly reasonable rates during May (up till Memorial Day) not a bad place. They may give you a better price for multiple rooms booked at once. Cant hurt to call. I know that there are tons a rentals houses at that time of year. When my husband was traveling, we checked into that for he and his crew. Are you splitting the cost with everyone?

I grew up about 2 hours from Cape Cod (in CT) and would go pretty much every summer. I will say that renting a house for a week is going to be mucho expensive...I have a couple friends that rent "houses" (more like cottages) out for $1200+ a week - no food included - looking for a house for THAT big of a group could be much more. Of course it always depends on location and which week you're looking for.

Towards the end of the summer and the further away from the beach you are makes a big difference.

Also, Cape Cod is about 60 miles worth of coast line (30 northern and 30 southern). The closer you get to "P-Town" (Provincetown) the higher the $$ gets.

I would suggest looking into maybe a bed & breakfast or motel/hotel for your parents and (if you're up to it) camping for the rest of the family. You can get a really nice camp site at a state park for around $10-15 a night (I think - it's been a while) plus it's a LOT of "together" fun.

Probably doesn't help much, but I figured it was worth chiming in :)

The school I work for has regional meetings each year. They are usually near one of the colleges we represent but my boss was able to do it at The Lighthouse Inn in West Dennis, MA last year which was really very special.

We had about 15 people in total and shared rooms in sets of two. The managers and director stayed in a smaller building that had a common room and 3-4 rooms while the rest of us were in more traditional hotel rooms. They have a main building with a dinning room and dinning plans for guests . . . We stayed the second week of August as that is always when our meeting is.

We really had a very nice time. The food wasn't pretty good and the staff was very nice. It may be something to check out.

My hubby lived on the Cape years ago, and we are also planning a trip next year. We will be staying at the state park, Nickerson State Park He claims it's the best deal going for families, without the big $$. They offer Yurt camping for $30-40ish per night. They are worth checking out for those who don't have the 'tent gene', or maybe the older folks. Have a blast!

Enjoy, will you ever! We did a bungalow on the beach a few years back. It was so peaceful and delightful (even though DH was sick from an Oyster cruise). The price was extremely reasonable too, don't remember how we booked but probably a vacation rentals by owner type deal (eliminate the middle man). BTW, I'd recommend a short whale watching venture rather than a four hour tour lol.

Cape Cod is very similar to the Wisconsin Dells. Golf, yachting, mini-golf, souvenir shops, bars, shopping (large mall), etc.

luckily when we went last year for that leg of our trip we had free lodging, lol.

the plymouth plantation and mayflower were great...the rock, lol...unimpressed. We missed going to the Cape Cod chip factory and apparently Ocean Spray was closed.

but we did get to meet bugface711 while there!

We did go to Marthas Vineyard too on the ferry, it was nice just hanging out at the beach...much different that our beaches here.
