Do you have a hotel already? When I traveled to Seattle and Vancouver three years ago (in March), I posted a similar request on the Fodor message board and someone told me about BiddingForTravel.com - The informed Priceline Travel Bidding Forum. He said to use it for 4* hotels. I ended up getting a 4* for $65/night. It was within walking distance to everything. I have since used the site for other travel and have usually had extremely nice hotels at 1-3* hotel prices.

We had a good breakfast in Pikes Place. Unfortunately I can't remember the name. It was on the water and had two levels. You order when you walk in the door and then find a place to sit. It was packed so we figured it was a popular weekend breakfast place and gave it a shot. We also had a nice French-style breakfast just down the street from Pikes Place. It was across the street from the water... on a corner not too far from the original Starbucks. Sorry I can't remember the names.

We took a ferry to Bainbridge Island. You get excellent views of the city and mountains and Bainbridge has a cute area to walk around and grab lunch.

We also went into the space needle (touristy, I know!) and had lunch.

We had our then toddler daughter with us, so we were limited on what we could do. There are some nice places within driving distance, but I can't remember their names. The zoo was nice.

Have a great time!

*cough* nerd *cough*

Besides the typical touristy stuff - Space Needle, Pike Place Market, EMP - there is the Underground Tour that your teenager will probably enjoy. First half of the tour is a talk of Seattle's history by a really funny tour guide and the second half is an actual walk through old buildings and underground Seattle. For a cheap boat ride, nothing beats the water taxi from Seattle to Alki Island - it's like less than $2 per person and once you're there you can catch a bus to town and do some shopping plus you'll get some awesome shots of downtown Seattle on your way over. If shopping is your thing then definitely hit Westlake Mall & Pacific Center -- great stores and if you're into make-up you'll definitely want to hit Sephora... it's right across the street from Westlake Mall. :)

knott02 will become famous soon enough
Default Re: Travelling to Seattle any suggestions?

We went in March and stayed in Seattle and also in the San Juans. We did the Seattle touristy things and that was fun. The best part of the trip was in the islands. My kids are 12 and 8 and they now want to move to that area! The ferry ride was a treat as well! If you are looking at a whale tour, I would look no further than Maya's Westside Charters...Whales, Wildlife and Photo Expeditions. This is a small boat (6 maximum) and Captain Jim was the best! He is a retired teacher and is great with the kids! It is $75 per person, but worth every penny!

If we would go back, we would spend our entire vacation in the islands instead of Seattle.

Have fun!
