knott02, I have already booked a tour with Captain Jim for a Thurs afternoon, just case we want to go again on Friday we will have the option.

The underground tour also sounds great. All the suggestions are being well received by DS.

All you guys are just fantastic. We really do have a great good of people on HCW.

You should not be dissapointed with your tour...take lots of pictures as it was beautiful!

I did get an entertainment book for Seattle and we used a few out of it. EMP was one that my land loving husband and 8 year old son used as it is about $15 a person to go through.

So, if you have time to order a book and are planning on going to this, it would pay for the book with just this one coupon.

We also did the Argosy harbor tour. This was really intersting and again was a small cost. Argosy Cruises : Seattle Sightseeing Tours, Dining Cruises & Event Venue I also think there was a coupon in the book for this one as well. During the cruise they mentioned a shop on the pier that had mummies and shrunken heads. We went there and they had a whole bunch of really weird stuff. The kids really liked looking at all of the stuff and we got out of there without even spending a dime. I don't remember the name of the shop, but I am sure you can find it on the pier.

Seattle Attractions: Discounts, Specials, Coupons is a coupon book that has $1.00 of trips at the Space Needle and I think money of the tram that runs through EMP.

We found this brochure as well as a few other coupons at the first hotel we stayed at in Seattle. We did notice that some of the coupons were different or just not printed in the ones we found at the hotel.

The zoo was great as well. We always go to the zoo when we are on vacation and I did not have this on our schedule this trip as I thought we have problably seen it all. We ended up having an extra day and everyone told us we had to go to the zoo. We were ready just for the regular zoo experience, but I don't know if we were just there on a good day and the animals were active or if they just have the zoo laid out better than most, but we LOVED the zoo. You could see all of the animals and they were active and looked like they were very well cared for. It did take us most of the day to go through the zoo, but this was a highlight as well!

Oh...I almost forgot. We also went to the aquarium and that was great. Captain Jim took us with him to gas up the boat, so we got to see star fish, crabs and many other things that I am not really sure what they were...but at the aquarium we all got to touch these things and learn more about them. We spent over an hour just at the touch pools. It was a little pricy for this, but we used the entertainment book for a discount.

As you can imagine, this was a great trip for our family...I think we would all do it again in a heart beat!

A couple other suggestions from someone who lives IN Seattle... :)

The Ride The Ducks tour... It's a tour of Seattle, on land and water. You're in an amphibious "boat" that also travels on land.

The Underground is an awesome thing, you'll both love it.

Seattle also offers a "coupon book" that gets you free admission into several "touristy" places, zoo, aquarium, Pacific Science Ctr, Museum of Flight and a couple others... Don't know if yours is a bit old...(your ds )

The Southcenter Mall is having a renovation that should be complete when you come, they are building an add on, that they claim will be great for the whole family. It has a children's play center, and "something your teenager will want to 'get lost' in"

As far as eating...
Breakfast:
Beth's Cafe

Awesome food and entertainment...Plus, if you request the balcony, outside eating... When I was a kid, my step-dad was the Janitor AND a weekly musician (Lonnie Williams) at the Pink Door (so I was there all the time! :) Can't visit Seattle w/o going there!! (under 21 welcome outside bar too!)

Best BBQ joints:
Jones BBQ and OK Corrall

Great walking/parks: Greenlake (of course) and Discovery Park (beautiful in Summer!)

Another thing you should check out is the farmer's markets, not just Pike Place... you can google seattle farmer's markets for the times/days... They've got wonderful local produce, flowers, smoked salmon, jams/jellies/nuts etc. It's just great!!

Sounds a bit 'touristy' too, but you've gotta go to the top of the Space Needle. The view is amazing. I wouldn't necessarily suggest eating in the restaurant, only because it's expensive, but you can't beat the view.

Also, to check out what people who live in Seattle decided on as "best of" check out the best of CitySearch website. (It's set on brunch, but you can check them all out...)

Oh!! If you have time, TILLICUM VILLAGE!!!!! On the waterfront in Seattle, they have trips all the time across the water to Tillicum Village. You go for a walk on the beach, have a authentic Native American meal w/entertainment, when I went as a kid, they fed local Salmon, and it was just the most awesome experience!! It's not too expensive, and I believe the meal is included in the price of the ticket.

HMMM...That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure that I'll think of more... Just a thought, depending on when you're coming out

If you're interested in a Seattle Entertainment book, lmk.

HTH!!!

There's a really good Moroccan Restaurant in downtown Seattle called Marrakesh. You will want reservations, and it's a bit pricey, but it is goooooood! Marrakesh Moroccan Restaurant seattle

There is also a really good Colombian restaurant very close to Pike's Place Market. I can't remember the name. All I remember is it is upstairs. That's not much help!

I would suggest you buy a city pass. It includes a ton of things to do like a harbor boat tour, aircraft musuem, zoo, science musuem, aquarium and more. My favorite was the harbor boat tour and Pikes Place Market. Buying a city pass saves you money. You can buy the pass ahead of time online.
Enjoy your trip.
