Multiple User ID's

Hey folks,

Just to let you know that when we notice people who have multiple accounts under different User ID's we will delete one of the accounts for hopefully obvious reasons.

While the internet is an anonymous place for all intents and purposes, Heidi and I do not feel it's in the best interest of all our members for people to be logged on under multiple accounts, and posting falsely about who you are and where you're from. I don't like to see people respond in a helpful or advising manner to users who aren't who they say they are.

When we have reason to suspect you have more than one account, we will notify by PM to confirm, but we stand firm on one account per user.

We appreciate the understanding from the few accountholders we've notified about deletions thus far.

A person that has more than 1 ID has way to much time on their hands. The whole reason to be here is to talk coupons. If you can't do that under 1 ID then why be here?

This doesnt mean like more than one person using a certain IP address does it? Cause i sign on at my sisters house all the time to see if i have PM's or just to post from there if i am at her house.
Is this what you are talking about or am i just out there somewhere and not getting it?

It means that User A decides to open another account under a new name, User B. Then, under UserB, assumes a whole new persona, location, gender, etc. and then posts and makes people believe they are someone else....to what end, I couldn't tell you.

What you described is different - logging in at your sister's house, and maybe she has an ID too - two separate things and not an issue!

How would you know that those 2 accounts are really the same person?

Some people even use different IDs on the same board for security reasons such as not using their home password at their work location where it might be monitored (& stolen). That doesn't though necessitate use of a different 'persona'.

The IP can be the same for many reasons. 2+ people sharing a PC or being on the same network or using the same proxyserver or tunnel.

Actually, in the two instances where this occurred recently, it was "fact". Please don't assume that I will just be out arbitrarily making guesses/assumptions when we look into these things.

We already "get it" that people might login from shared computers - we have several members who have spouses/SO's who each have an account.

While we obviously won't "catch" everyone who might do this, when it's clear that it's been done, we'll delete the account, plain and simple. No one should worry themselves with the how or the why unless it affects you directly somehow, and if it does, then you really should be PMing me about it.
