Upromise and WIC and food stamps

I am not ashamed to admit that I get a little bit of both. Since my DHs accident we have qualified.

I wanted to let others know that if you get either of those kinds of assistance if you scan your Upromise registered store card when purchasing food items that are on the program you will get the credit to your upromise acct.

Where I live Viva and Meadow Gold milk are Upromise qualifying purchases so when I get my WIC milk I can get those two brands.

Also for anyone who gets forumla, baby cereal or juice on wic beechnut is a qualifying purchase and Enfamil is for forumula.

Hi queen, I am so sorry your hubby got hurt.. Mine was hurt too in april.. He had to have the right side of his face "rebuilt".. We tried to get help but could not.. I am proud that you did.. I know there are others on these boards that are using them too.. I think because you shared this others will benifit.. Thanks stephanie Oh and i hope your hubby gets better.. well my hubby is better (if you call loosing half your thumb, and not having much use of the other thumb better LOL) but when he had his accident we also gained 2 babies and our income just has not caught up with us yet. So that is why we qualify still for some assistance. DH works full time now he just isnt making quite enough just yet.

Anyways I too hope that the post benifits others. We all can use all the help we can get money wise!

I don't get WIC, but do get a little bit of food stamps each month. I have been considered permanantly disabled since 2000. My DH and I are only common law married because if we get legally married, I will lose all my medical coverage. The medical is the main reason I need assistance. And even with the help, OOP is pretty high each month. That is the main reason I am s-l-o-w-l-y learning to coupon and stockpile. At least then I feel like I contribute a little more to the household expenses.

Just thought I would let you know you aren't alone.

Are you asking how you would go about getting these? If so:

With the food stamps, you would have to go to your local department of Human Services and fill out paperwork. There are income requirements, based on household size. They do take out your expenses, such as rent/mortgage,(property taxes and house insurance if you have a mortgage) telephone (mine took out the basic - 33.00), utilities that you have to pay out of your own pocket. You then have to meet with a social worker, and she tells you what to bring and the process itself can take anywhere from 1 week (for emergency food stamps - basically no money and none coming in) to 45 days.

With WIC, It might vary from state to state. I know for both MI and MS, we had to go through the department of health to get started.

But each state usually has its information on their website. (for example...Michigan's is on their home page. On the right side there are a bunch of links. You click on the one that says human services and it takes you to the website. You would then click on "assistance programs" and there is everything. Just figured I would go a little more into detail. HTH.

I get food stamps, and WIC, and my kids have MI child (an insurance program through the state for children of low income families). So that's how I know.
