Ques about a potential bad trade

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this. So please bear with me. I'd like to know how to go ahead with a trade that was finalised last week of July and I haven't received the checks yet. I paid for Similac checks with paypal and they haven't yet turned up, and in my experience, if they've not been returned to the sender, they won't turn up at my mailbox any soon. I'd like to get my money back, so what to do. I can provide more details of the seller if the mods need.

Have you tried pm'ing the trader to make sure they mailed their end? I've had envies that have taken a good 6+ days to get to me (and vice versa). I haven't used PP in years, but once I made a trade with someone and after 3 weeks, my pm's were going unanswered (different board, no trade mod to contact) anyway, I went through PP and they credited my acct back since I never received my coupons.
You can always contact Bugface, she's the MOD for the trade forum.

well if you sent it as a payment you can also file a claim with paypal...

if you paid with paypal, I hope you didn't send it as gift

else you will be flagging yourself when you open a dispute since you CANNOT dispute a gift you send, kwim? Since you have to give details why you're filing the dispute, truth will come out that it is actually a payment for a transaction and not a gift. paypal may give you a stern warning since that is violation of their terms or in worse case scenario, your account may be closed.

Even if it was done "properly" via paypal, make sure the mods are involved... we need bad traders flagged!

Do you come across anybody here who wants to be paid by paypal as 'Payment'. Everybody puts in 'Gifted Paypal'. That's what makes PP worthless in terms of security. I was new here and she was new, so I didn't see a reason to tell her to send first. And now I'm at this position. I did take up the issue with bugface and motherofmolly, so hopefully it'll be fine.

I am sorry this happened to you. It is tricky when 2 people are new and trading. It is rougher but maybe you should try to start trading with established traders that have like 100 or more positive feedbacks under their belt until you get enough trades in. The reason why people put gifted paypal is because the fees are enormous. I guess someone could offer to pay their own fees but I wouldn't want to do that. It is a hard situation but bugace and motherofmolly will help you out. They are awesome. Also look at the feedbacks of how long someone has traded, like if they didn't trade recently sometimes that is an issue. But not all the time, some people just don't trade much. If they have any negative feedback always make them send their end first (after you are established) as for right now if they don't have perfect feedback then don't trade with them. It is hard but you will get more good traders than bad.

unfortunately, there are people who know that paypal sent as gifts cannot be disputed and this is exactly why they specify that. We've always said, do not send money you're not willing to lose so it is best to pay fees just in case we don't get our end.

I'm not saying the other party you're dealing with planned that BUT we have discussed this in the bad trade forum that there are scammers who go to different boards, establish some FB and then run away with a lot of paypal they collected as "gifts" from unsuspecting members. They know that people they get money from will think more than twice about filing a dispute with paypal if they do not want to go into details of transaction and tell the truth that it was actually a payment I've read in other boards, they just suck it up and learn from it.
