Keep List Question

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here (obviously) and trying to learn how things work. I was wondering what is the point of a Keep list? I get the have list and wishlist, but is it worth the extra effort to list all of the coupons you have but don't want to trade? Wouldn't it be easier just to not list those?

Hey there! And welcome!!

First let me say that I'm one of the "old school" HCWers who still keeps my have and wish lists in the regular trade forum rather than using the database (ie, I just have a post where I type out my coupons that I have and want rather than using the database).

But I believe the idea of having the keep list would be to keep tabs on what you have for yourself. I know that sometimes I'll hang onto some coupons for myself and then offer them for trade if I see something I really really want and the items I have match that person's wishes. It just makes it easier to keep tabs on things. And at the top of the keep list, there's a handy little function that allows you to readily move items to your have list for trading if you want to do so.

I agree with you SS...I use the DB, limited use, but that is what the Keep is for me. I can get a bit disorganized a times and this section is used as a reminder for me which Qs I actually have and plan to use personally. At any point, you could find Qs in my kitchen, in my living room, in my binder, in my purse...and the list goes on. My mother is on the hunt for Qs for me too and she lives in TN. So when I get them, and I enter them in my list, it just helps me remember when I am planning my shopping list, that "Oh yea, I have to make sure I grab that Q" and if it isn't where it is supposed to be, then I am on the hunt!

I for one forget to update my list on HCW, so therefore I keep my list on my computer desk top so I know what I have.

Personally I think the have list is just a way to have a quick recall of coupons on hand in case you see a good deal posted. Or even if another member sees a coupon on your have list they might be wanting, you might strike up a trade.

That makes sense. Thanks for your help! :) I took the time to update my have and Keep lists, and I think it will come in handy to have all my coupons right on the screen, (and in alphabetical order!), so I don't have to search through them by hand. Thanks :) :)
