I was driving to visit the college that I planned to attend.... we listened on the radio as we heard the news that the world trade center had been hit with a plane. It's a day I will never forget. Our nation was changed forever, in a split second.
I was working as a teller in a credit union, had just finished helping a member and bid him a good day. Boy, did I get an earful about that comment... How could I be so disrespectful, etc... It wasn't until we turned the radio on that we heard what had happened. My mother in law was entertaining some folks from one of the investment firms that was headquartered in the Towers. If they hadn't been in NH that day................... I thank God for sparing them when so many others couldn't be. My first instinct was to gather my family to me. My eldest was in the 4th grade and unaware, the baby wasn't even three months old yet. All I could think was oh my god..... I know I spent a good chunk of the day in prayer.

I was in high school chemistry class. I remember that they brought a tv into the class that we never had a tv in and watched the rest of the period. We changed classes but in every class we were all glued to the tv. I was in shock and disbelief at the same time.
I was in college. Standing in my dorm room, I was the RA on my floor, so one of the girls ran down to me with tears in her eyes. I just couldn't believe it. Here I was, 20, and I had a floor of 50 girls that I was like a mom to. Most of us sat and cried together. Just knowing we were there for each other helped!
I was in 11th grade. I was at school. We watched the tv the entire time. I was in the NJROTC. I happened to miss uniform day so I had to wear my uniform that day to make it up. At that time we didnt know the scale of anything goin on, so my commander would not let me leave school in my uniform. So my mom had to bring me clothes to change into before I could leave. When I got home I just sat in front of the tv & cried & prayed :(
I was going to the local Technical College at the time. I had been in class and all day long I would hear bits and pieces but really had no idea what was going on. Then, at lunch time I finally was able to find out and I was just in total shock. That afternoon the school had put a tv in the lobby area for the students to view it. It was so hard to believe that something that horrible took place.
I turned on the TV and watched it live. Turned on the TV right after the first plane at hit...so saw the second one hit..and saw live the first tower crash and the second tower crash.
