Crock Pot Spicy Pulled Pork – Featuring Dr. Pepper
Turn on crock pot to Low. Layer ½ the onions on the bottom of the pot. Place pork into crock pot, fat side up, then add remaining onions on top. Mix dry spices together and sprinkle over the pork. Pour Worcestershire and Dr. Pepper into the crock pot. Place lid on crock pot. Try not to open too frequently although you can turn the pork during the cooking process if you want.
- 4 pounds Pork Tenderloin (or Shoulder/Butt cut of pork)
- 1 whole large white onion, sliced or chopped (approximately 1 cup)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1-½ teaspoon dry ground mustard
- 2 teaspoons ground cayenne pepper, or more, to taste
- ¼ cups apple cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 24 ounces, Dr. Pepper (2 cans)
Let cook 6- hours. Pork is done when it can be shredded with a fork. Drain any excess liquid. Coat the pork, to taste, with your favorite BBQ sauce, such as Kraft or Sweet Baby Ray’s. Let sauce and pork combine.
You have multiple ways to serve this – between two slices of Texas Toast, like a southern pork taco on a lightly grilled corn tortilla, or on a standard sandwich bun. Great way to make pork stretch for a large family.
