Just an FYI - the $10,000 place was a golf course clubhouse and was for 100 people. Totally outrageous. Another banquet hall minimum was $6500. Prices for catering are out there also at minimums of $50 a head.

Also, found the prices go down drastically(over half) if they marry Sunday - Thursday.

I love the garage sale idea - I will have to start of list of what we are looking for. So glad we have a year to collect all the decorations and such. Also, yesterday I was clearing out my storage of vases and almost donated to goodwill then realized we could possibly use them for the wedding. I have to change how I look at my "junk" now.

Look for Christmas decorations like those long swags or ropping. kwim? Sometimes you can pick off the "Christmas" decoration part and have nice long green swags that will look pretty on the edge of the bridal table.

The theatre that I volunteer for has a lovely courtyard between the entry and the auditorium. Its decorated to look like an old world European street. People rent the room for smaller sized (50ppl maybe) receptions and its cheap ! Ask around - I bet you have places like that in your city.
