HAPPY DANCE A newbie shopping report

I just got back from Albertsons and even though they don't do double coupons I think I did okay by saving $7.35 in coupons and $26.63 in Great Deals for $33.98 off regular prices. I had plenty of General Mills cereal coupons for $1/2 and they had it for $1.49 on sale (limit 8). I also had a coupon for eggs and they were on sale too. I got some gogurt and pizza rolls with coupons too. Both items got guzzled down by my teenager for lunch already today!! The best deal of all was I got a 25 cent toothbrush and some toothpaste for 50 cents (both would have been freebies if they did doubles though). Milk was $1 for a half gallon and I sure noticed everybody (including me) was grabbing a couple of those instead of getting the gallon sized.

Yesterday I went to get some soda at KingSoopers (Kroger) and ended up picking a few sale items with my coupons. $8.95 in coupons and $5.05 on doubles added to the Soopercard savings of $9.26 saved me a total of $23.26 on what was originally a $56 order. Glad I bought the soda yesterday at 3/$10, because in todays ad it was at 3/$13. I got enough soda in the garage for a couple of weeks now, and hopefully it will go back on sale by then.

Later this week, I gotta hit up Safeway for a couple of thing in their ad that are on for the weekend only. Of course I have coupons for those, just waiting for the sale!

I know none of the extra food I have will get wasted because I am taking a bunch of teens on a weekend trip at the end of this month. I fact, I think I may go get more of that cereal this weekend too.

No too shabby for a newbie around these parts!!!

Great job! I don't have doubles either so my savings aren't as great but can still be pretty good when matching coupons with sales. Keep up the good work.

The closest Alberstons to me closed a couple of years ago, so I go to one about 5 miles away that is on my path home from work. It is not a big store but at least I can get in there every once in a while for the sales.

    Thanks for the compliment!
I did figure out real fast that I need to put together a binder like a lot of you guys here have. I had my coupons thrown in a shoebox and it took a while to dig out what I wanted while standing in the store. I used a bunch of the sheet protectors and just spread the coupons out. I didn't have any of the baseball card holders, but I will look for some later. I think I saw somewhere that somebody found them at walmart?

I was pleased to find out that I did not have any problem with printable coupons scanning. I was kinda worried about them because they came out a little fuzzy on my cheap printer (or maybe I just need to align the cartridge better). They worked okay at the store though, so that is good to know.
