My boys love to play games so I'm always on the lookout for new ones that both the 5 year old and the 7 year old can play.

We have 2 that are virtually the same idea, one is involves cards and the other dice. The gist is that you get points (either by rolling the dice or by adding up the cards that you turn over) and you have to know when to stop your turn to get your points. If you go too far, you either get a red die or you turn over a zap card and your turn ends and you forfeit any points you racked up that turn.

TossUp is the dice game. Amazon has it for $9.79 but I think I spent less for it either at Target or Walmart, can't remember which. But it's super easy and super fun.

Zap! is the card game and this link here has it for $10.99 but I know I got it for a lot less than that. it was forever ago... I want to say at Michaels on Clearance, but I'm not sure.

As far as games how about hungry hungry hippo or barrell full of monkeys. For snacks you could send animal crackers.

Trouble and cranium are two games that are really fun and can be played with all ages. Smart Mouth is another fun game.

As for snacks - what about chex mix - the old kind that you cook or that fancy one they call it puppy chow, or rice krispie treats. Since family game is kind of retro the food could be retro too? You could serve a punch (jiuce and soda mixed type thing).

Check out yard sales and thrift stores for games - I get some there for cheap.

There is a whole website called familygamenight.org - you might find something clever there?

Twister!! fun game that keeps them moving! and you could have some kind of treat that is twisted...swirled candy or ice cream? something along those lines.

when i was in elem. school, our carnival always had a cake walk. you could get some other moms to donate baked goods for it.

My son loves candy land. It is a fairly cheap and easy, fun game for kids. And for snack you could do mini cupcakes and small candies and let them decorate the cupcakes themselves. Thanks for the chance...

My daughter had a teen church game night and they played Cranium. They were having so much fun that I couldn't get her to leave!

I think i need to update. I can not provide any baked goods school does not allow it. They are only looking for me to donate items to them and they have to be new. So that is why i am having a harder time than normal trying to come up w/ things.

There are some great ideas here! So i am getting my brain moving w/ these ideas. Thank you and keep them coming :0)

My kids (7 and 13) love the game Pictureka! I enjoy it as well and it's not necessarily easy, but it is a really fun game. You have to find certain objects on a really busy game board in a certain amount of time.

How about snacks such as microwave popcorn, chips, crackers. Maybe find an inexpensive party-type music CD. Kool-Aid packets also. Inexpensive candy (those coupons for Pieces candy comes to mind...).
