Not that Jesus isn't important, I'm going for a more historical person - Susan B Anthony, for everything she did for women's rights.

I love history too and tried hard to think who is my favorite secular historical figure. But, my peers here made my mind keep returning to the bible. I wholeheartedly agree with everyone that Jesus cannot be topped. Also high on my list is Noah, Abraham and the Apostle Paul, why would take all day.

I don't think I am drawn to any particular non-biblical person, but rather groups of people. I love Roman and Egyptian documentaries and "period" films depicting how people once lived, especially anything Jane Austen (although what she wrote isn't historical). I also enjoy historical accounts (documentaries) of significant things that happen in the past like volcanic erruptions, earthquakes, what happen to dinosaurs, etc. Archaeologist digs and museums of history and natural history also fascinate me.

Amelia Earhart & Laura Ingalls Wilder... both were strong women who broke away from the pack & I would have loved to have been able to have a conversation with either one of them! I grew up with books about (and by) them, they helped fuel my love for reading. I actually loved the name Amelia so much that my youngest is named after her!

The Founding Fathers to have the strength to stand up and do what they felt was right for the people and create our nation as imperfect as it may be. That was courage.
