Default Re: 2nd annual Sharing is Caring Choo Choo!!! Review OP for more ways to earn points! This train is running GReaT!!

My DH is even getting into the caring and sharing spirit. He got together his old Nintendo DS and 27 games for me to donate. I am thinking of giving it to a friend of ours who just lost her job. Her sons birthday is next week and I think she would be thrilled to give that to him. I just don't really know how to handle that? I would love to give her a box of food too. She is very prideful and I don't want to insult her. Any suggestions?

That is a great idea! Way to go! I often give out coupons in the store when I see someone looking at something. It does make you feel good to pass on the knowledge you have to others.

Here's my update:
I donated 3 diabetic meters to the Senior citizen center.
I gave 4 jars of baby food to a lady at church.

On Sunday I volunteered 1 hr 15 minutes in the morning and 1 hr 30 minutes in the evening.

Monday I delivered meals to 4 people for the "Meals on Wheels" program.

I also filled a shoebox for "Operation Christmas Child"~there were 14 items in the box.

First of all what a really kind thing to do. What an AWESOME b-day present that would be to give to her son. What if you told her about the sharing train and how it's sort of a contest and you are trying to acquire points. That you earn a certain amount of points for various acts of giving one of those being to friends and family members. That you really wanted her son to have the DS and the timing was perfect since he has a b-day coming up and you would also get credit on your train so that way you are sort of helping each other out. You can also just tell her that you were putting together boxes of food to donate as well because you had a stockpile to get rid of and you thought if she would take one of those as well then that would help you count that toward your "donation to a friend" or a "Random Act of Kindness" part of the train. :shrug7: You could just sort of pose it to her as a question maybe...."Do you think you could use some of this stuff? If so I would love for you to have it. I have too much already and I don't want them to go to waste and it would help me out as well." etc. Not sure if that is too transparent but maybe that would help it not seem like just solely a handout to her but a way that it is actually helping you as well. Wish I had a better idea but that's all I could come up with.

I received a VERY thoughtful RAOK from frugalstafar! Thank you so much for putting a smile on my face. I really needed that today.

I also received the FABULOUS blessings and granny envies! I will be getting those back out later today along with a few more RAOK envies.

Yeah, I think that is the approach I will need to take with her. She knows I am crazy coupon obsessed so telling her about the train is a good idea. I really do have way too much food and I am running out of room to store things. I will make up a box of stuff and not overdo it. Thanks for your advice, I always doubt myself.

I am so thankful that most of the people who are riding this train have more food than they can possibly use, which gives them the ability to share with friends, family, and neighbors.

I was just thinking about that :)
