Finding Havelists and Wishlists for Dummies Part 1
Now I know you aren't dumb! It can be totally confusing to navigate a new site especially if you're still getting used to "coupon speak" and then you have to figure out "forum speak" on top of it. So since I've had 3 people ask me in the last week how to find another member's have or wish list if it's not in their siggy, I figured I'd break this down for you.
If someone PMs you for a trade but their wishlist isn't in their siggy line and you want to see if they have one or if you notice a person posting and think "hmm they might be nice to trade with. Wonder if they have a havelist in the database?" Here's what ya do!
(You must be logged in for this to work)
Click on coupon database at the top in the orange bar.
Click on your wishlist or havelist tab.
Underneath the tabs will be this blurb (except with your name where mine is):
In time, we want all coupon traders to manage and share their coupon lists using these new pages, rather than posting in the forums. However, because it may take some traders time to transition, we plan on continuing to support both methods for a period.
Your lists are shared for others to see at http://www.hotcouponworld.com/userlists/tacatcon and you may browse other member's lists by visiting http://www.hotcouponworld.com/userlists. Until everyone is using the new system, you may also want to periodically check the old Wish Lists: Seeking Coupons or Actuals for Trade forum. If you are worried that traders who haven't yet migrated to the new system won't see your items here, you may also use the Update Post button below to put items from here into a new Thread/Post in that forum.
Go right to the link I have highlighted in red! This will bring you to an alphabetical listing of everyone who has entered a havelist and/or wishlist in the database. You can choose to look at just one or the other or both.
SHORTCUT: Instead of doing all that you may also type in:
http://www.hotcouponworld.com/userlists/ membername (without a space before the membername)
With their membername in that last part
NOW, if nothing is listed for that member, they may not have made a list in the database yet.
Also check the Havelist and Wishlist forum, respectively. Anyone who was trading before we had the database probably created a list manually at one point in the forums.
To search for a particular member's list in the forum:
Open the forum you want (wishlist or havelist)
Select Search this forum (right hand side)
Select Advanced Search
Under "Search by User Name"
Type the other member's name in and select "Find threads started by" in the drop down box
Hit search now
Whether they created the list via the database and updated to the forum or created it manually, you can find it this way.
Have fun!
