RAOK RAOK what method you use WINNERS POST #32

Want to win a 100 coupon - RAOK. Read on.

There are several ways to save on your grocery budget -

    1) The Planner - This is the shopper that menu plans for the week, then sits down and makes a list of ingredients needed, then shops for those things only, to help them stay on a budget.

    2) The Flier Shopper - This is the shopper that buys what is on sale in the flier and plans their meals around those items they have purchased.

    3) The Stockpile Shopper - This is the shopper that collects a stockpile while the items are at their lowest possible price.

Step 1) Post what kind of shopper you are.

I started 20 years or so ago being a planner, then I became a flier shopper several years ago. Last year I became a stockpile shopper, but I haven't been totally effective because I don't have a price book. I'm about to start one and that brings me to ....

Step 2) Post if you have tried a price book or not and if so why not or how did you believe it helped you save. Was it worth it for all the time & effort?

Thanks! This should be of great help to me and to other shoppers out there in HCW.

Please post only once and this RAOK will close Sat. (8/8/09) at noon.

    The 100 coupons will include:
    Some that expire 8/31/09
    Some with NED
    Some organic foods
    Some dog & cat
Some coupons that expire later in the year.
100 Total Coupons to the lucky number my hubby draws from all the entries. I will contact you on Sat. if you are the lucky winner. Thanks for playing.

I am stuck somewhere between the flyer shopper and the stockpiler. I do not have a pricebook but watch closely on here to others who will say 'this is the best price we have seen on X since Y' and kinda use that as a base. I have only been really active in couponing for a few months so I am working my way up to that excellent Q user but doubt I have the patience to get up to where a lot of people on here are at.

    Thanks for the chance.

    I'm a Stockpile Shopper

I don't have a pricebook but have been thinking more and more about it. I have a general idea of what I am willing to pay for items but sometimes I find that the item goes on sale at a lower price before I've had a chance to even use my stockpiled item!

This is a great RAOK--looking forward to reading what others have to say!

I am somewhere between flier and stockpiler. The flier is how I decide what meals are going to be. I am just starting on the stockpile but am realizing that it may save me the most money. I don't have a price book but I am thinking about making one so I have a physical reminder of what my best prices have been for future stockpiling.

I am a stockpile shopper, but look at the fliers to see whats on sale. I thought I was doing pretty good until I found this website and plan my shopping around peoples posts. I do not have a price book, but I know what the lowest price is that I can get things for. Thanks for a chance!

Somewhere between all three! I have never had a price book, although most prices are in my head. Numbers are my 'thing' and I tend to remember them.

I'm also somewhat between a flier and stockpile shopper. I try to stockpile on the things that I use all the time, and then use the fliers to round that out for day to day meals.

I haven't done a price book, but have been considering it. Maybe this winter...

    Thanks for the chance!

I'm flier, stockpiler shopper. I don't use a price book. I have a good general idea of what is a good price. I'd almost say I was in a whole other category. I make a list of the items in the flier that are a good price whether I need them or not. I shop for those items, but I make a mental note of other items I know I have coupons for and if it's a good deal I'll get that too. I take my whole binder in with me. I just know people think I'm crazy when start looking through my "coupon britanica"

I am a planner and stockpiler shopper. I always have a list and I try to use all my coupons when something is on sale. I have not made a price book, and really hadn't heard of that until you mentioned it in your post. I will have to look into it.
