Default Helping Others is Helping Ourselves 4th winner announced 4th question posted

In these times of economic crisis, I have noticed more and more people holding onto things, items, coupons, etc. and giving less and less. Of which I am guility of in many ways.

In an effort to get back to gving more, I am doing a weekly RAOK. The RAOK will run from Sunday to Saturday. In other to be entered into the drawing for the RAOK, you need to post one of the following:

Something someone did for you based on the weekly topic; it will be posted in the OP thread. Does not have to be on this board and if you to keep the name of the person (if on this board) a secret, that is fine. Just post how someone paid it forward to you or someone else you know. You may enter only one time per week. A randomizer will be used to pick the winner who will receive an envie of coupons, MIR, etc. whatever I can find that week. Also will attempt to work off winner's wishlist.

Topic for 6/21- 6/27 How did someone help in a non-financial way. 1st winner is cspigner28

Topic for 6/28- 7/5 Name one thing that the recession has made you rethink or change. 2nd winner is pennstater

Topic for 7/6 - 7/11 Name one thing you plan to donate this year. Kity_Cat
Topic for 7/15 - 7/20 List your favorite charitable organization and why they are your favorite. kremsh

OK...I missed the "non financial" part of the request. Here's my revised answer:

My landscaping had a few empty places due to plants that failed to thrive. A few different friends were dividing their perennials and let me take them home to fill in my empty spaces. I got to enjoy gardening even though we didn't have any money this year.

I had a kidney stone last week and my parents really helped me with my daughter. They had her for 2 days and took great care of her. I really appreciate them.

This is a beautiful idea! Thank you for doing this, just as a general sign of kindness and a reminder of how I strive to be as well!

Today I am especially grateful for the kind strangers I saw helping a woman who fainted at Walgreens. I fainted once at Rite Aid and everyone stayed away from me like I had a deadly communicable disease! So I was so thankful when everyone (and in a huge city no less) around her came to her aid. Kindness is not dead! Reminders of that truly hearten me.

My husband is in training and we have two kids. #.5 year old and 11 months old. I had a surgery on my foot and couldn't walk without a crutches for 6 weeks. Ladies from church and great friends helped me through it. They brought us dinners for the first couple weeks and my friends watched my kids when I needed to go to the doctor appointments or ER (right after the surgery). I have been so blessed to know that I have friends who care about me and my family.

My soon to be boss has given me another chance to become a Manager in Training at Steak n Shake. I quit a different one due to unfortunate circumstances, but this GM believes in me. This Steak n Shake is one of the Top 5 in the nation. :)

My grandma raises a garden every year. She picked tons of squash and other veggies and didn't feel like putting them up so she gave them to us. Plus her blueberry bushes are full and she lets us come once a week and pick as many as we'd like.
