When I was deployed to Iraq I wrote a blog to keep people up to date on what I was doing. It also served to cut back on the number of emails I had to write and repeating myself. I called it "Ruminations of a Soldier Medic" and I wrote about my day to day activities, our mission, and my interactions with Iraqi civilians and the Iraqi Police and Iraqi Army we worked with. One of my good friends, a military police officer, ended up sending me some stuff that I posted under her name, Mama G. I was really surprised by how much attention it got. I originally only told my platoon sergeant (his wife is Mama G) and my friends and family about it. It spread like wildfire and I had people in Canada, France, and London reading. It was awesome.
When we came home, neither of us kept writing. I didn't feel like I had anything to say anymore, and she was prego.
Well, now we want to start it back up and co-author it together. We want to move it over to a new blog site where we can each post to it on our own. And we need a new name for our blog!
We want something creative. Some things you may want to know about us in helping pick names:
We are both outspoken and tell it like it is.
I was a combat medic, she was a military police officer.
When we write, we both have a lot to say.
We have each been in the army for over 7 years.
I guess our unofficial motto was "No bias, no bull."
We will use this new blog to post about what we have been up to since we got home. We want to let our readers know how we are doing. It will be about our personal lives. We will also add in links/updates/videos about our fellow soldiers who were hurt/injured while over in Iraq. This blog will probably comment on military policies in general and how the war on terror is being handled. We will give our thoughts and opinions on news stories and what we think is and is not working based on our experiences. This blog will be a sounding board/diary for us.
I will leave this up for a few weeks and speak with Mama G about the blog names you post. We will pick a winner between the 22nd and the 26th. The winner will get to pick any 50 coupons off my havelist.
