The “NAME THAT MASCOT” Train

Are you a rabid sports fan???

Do you love a particular team???

Do you like trains with small twists???

THIS TRAIN IS FOR YOU!!!!

After reading EVERYTHING BELOW and making sure you understand all the rules, post a reply to let me know you want to claim a ticket. Then ALSO send me a PM with the following:

* “Name that Mascot” in the title
* your full name
* your mailing address
* a link to your wishlist

(remember, you may only ride/conduct 3 trains at a time; if you are already on three…we’ll catch you next time!!)

Here’s how it works:

This is a one week train. There will be a total of 10 riders including myself. We will mail on Monday, 3/9/09. You will be assigned two envies. Each envie will have 25 coupons + 1 mascot coupon.

What is a mascot coupon? Great Question!!!!!!

One coupon must equal a mascot of any team (pro/college/high school).

Here are some examples (please do not use the following coupons, products or teams listed below as your mascot coupons):

ie: Bird -> Hokie Bird -> Virginia Tech

coupon suggestion: Madagascar Escape 2 Africa DVD and 2 bags of "Bird"s Eye Voila, Get $5 back with proofs of purchase, MIR x 5/15/09

ie: Wolf -> Wolfpack -> NC State (or Nevada)

two coupon suggestions:

1) "Wolf" Brand Chili - All You, February 2009 - valid up to $1.00 x 4/29/09

2) "Wolf"gang Puck Organic Canned Soup or Organic Broth - Mambo Sprouts Winter 2009 x 5/31/09

There are 2 restrictions on the Mascot Coupon:

1) unless the person has a specific pet coupon on their list, the "mascot" coupon may not be a pet coupon.

2) I'd like to keep it PG, therefore excluding coupons like Trojan condoms -> Trojans -> University Southern California

Final Mascot Coupon Requirement

You must post when you mail an envie. The post should include the following:

1) who you sent the envies to

2) what coupon(s) you used for the mascot

3) how you went from the coupon to the mascot and where that mascot is from (team/school).

Example (again, please do not use the coupon, product or team listed in this example):

the coupon: "Turkey" Hill Ice Cream Sandwiches or Sundae Cones, Any $1.00/2 x 5/22/09

the explanation: Turkey (coupon) -> Bird -> Hokie Bird (mascot) -> Virginia Tech (school/team)

For A Ticket:

*You must be a member of the Trader group on HCW and have an iTrader rating of 10 or more with NO negative ratings.

*You must have an updated wish list posted in the wish list forum to ride. If there's something you don't need multiples of please note it on your WL.

*To make sure everyone has a chance to use the coupons before they expire, please make sure the coupons (excluding the mascot coupon) expires later than 3/23/09.

* If for any reason you mail out late, life happens, please post in the thread when it went out so your receiving rider can watch for it.

*You must post when you receive an envie. If you do not post your envie(s) as received at the 2 week point, I will consider them received. This is to ensure we do not hold up riders unnecessarily from ending their ride.

* If the envie has not been received at the two week point, you will be asked to remail an envie. Joining this train means you agree to this rule. Please remember, that when you sign up to join this train, not only are you agreeing to the specific guidelines of this train but the train rules as posted HERE in general. Failing to follow the rules of the trains or not sending an envelope falls under a bad trade. You can be reported for this and be listed as a bad trader.

* Please no baby, no meds, no booze and no oddball products that very few members will use unless you have an exact wishlist match. In other words, no junk! Any doubts, please ask.

*Limit of one copy of each coupon unless it is an exact match to a wish list. If the rider has $0.75/2 dole fruit cups then $1.00/3 is NOT an exact match. If you have an exact wish list match and the rider did not note that they didn't want multiples, then multiples are encouraged!

*You must be able to send out 50 quality coupons + 2 mascot coupons. That's 26 coupons inside each of the 2 envies (the mascot coupon MUST be included to fulfill your train requirements) If you want to send non-wishlist duplicates or some with a short expiration date, that is okay, but it has to be above the 26 coupon minimum. If you do send extras, please watch your postage!

*Printables, store-specific coupons, BTFE, Campbell’s Labels, Coke Codes, Pamper Points, etc., are great to send if the member can use them.

*Rebates and TMF forms are GREAT to include (just be sure they can be used in the state the receiver is in!).

*Please leave feedback for fellow riders who send to you!

*This is a potluck train! I REALLY hope that riders will try to match the wish lists of their assigned recipients, but just do the best you can. As long as you adhere to the rules about expiration dates and minimum number of coupons, you should be fine.

*You are encouraged to PM the member directly if you have questions about what he/she can or cannot use.

*If you have questions about the progress of this train or whether a trader sent you an envie that does not meet the requirements for this train, you can always contact me.

OK, so I'm an early bird, but I'm trying to get my train envies together tonight cuz we have plans for much of tomorrow. My two envies are ready for the mail Monday morning!

I just couldn't bring myself to take Xavier from XUfan since duh, she loves XU enough to make it her screen name!!

So here are my two envies:

Envie to LadyBeBop contains a coupon for Quaker True Delights ---> the University of Pennsylvania team is called the Quakers.

And envie to bugweena contains a coupon for DeMet's Turtles candy ---> The University of Maryland team is the Terrapins ---> terrapin is another word for turtle!

Finding the mascot coupon was the most fun ever. I am sending coupons for Pace Picante Sauce in honor of Henry The Puffy Taco. He is the mascot for the San Antonio Missions and was once named the best mascot in minor league baseball by Newsweek. You can see him in action here and here. Boy, I feel very unoriginal after reading about everyone's mascot coupons! I will be mailing tomorrow to suesaving & hduvall, who will each be receiving $.50/1 Eagle Brand Premium Dessert Kits Product peelies in honor of my high school's mascot - the New Madrid County Central Eagles in Southeastern Missouri.

I wanted to pay homage to the University of Oklahoma Sooners, but I couldn't think of a connection for that!
