Re: cheese deal!!! At the Tops in West Seneca on Ridge today, I was informed while purchasing 8 Heluva Good Cheese packages, which are on sale as BOGO/3.19, that of the 8 coupons I had accumulated from the coupon machine located in the dairy department, only 4 would be accepted.
It did not matter that I was purchasing 8 blocks of cheese, it only mattered that I was paying for 4. Upon asking when this policy took effect, I was told by the very nice self-checkout cashier that it has always been the policy.
So instead of blowing up at the nice lady, I waited til I got home and called.
I was informed by the manager on duty that this was correct and is there policy. Upon asking to speak to the Store Manager, I was again informed this was Tops Policy and always has been. Upon threatening to give all my business to the Wegmans across the street (which does get 80% of my grocery shopping) the manager offered to reimburse me for the coupons value, which is only 2.20 more on the purchase.
This was more to me about the crap Tops continually shoves at its customers than the $2.20. It was about the cashier, the manager on duty and the store manager all telling me that this is store policy and always has been. I'm 48 and this has never come up anywhere and certainly not at Tops. The manager said that I've been dealing w/ people who haven't been enforcing store policy or ignoring it. For 30 years, they have had a policy which no one enforced????
So I called Tops Corporate Office and they took my information. Maybe they will get back to me, if its there policy???
In case I wasn't clear in my reasoning. According to Tops, I purchased 8 items but I only paid for 4.
Therefore I could only used 4 coupons seeing its BOGO, you must pay for the item in order to a coupon, not purchase it |
