Her books are based on her experience living and growing up in the Amish country in Lancaster, PA. I enjoy the books so much because I live about an hour from Lancaster and go there very often and she uses real landmarks, road names and such and it is neat to read about things like that!
I love her books!! Sometimes they are a little slow for me though and I am like "come on already! Let something happen!" lol I'm impatient!!

How about those Box Car Children Mysteries?? Does anyone read those? I try to read them to my kiddos but they don't have the patience.

I will second Max Lucado, too- he is awesome if you are looking for Christian reading material.

It's really cool to see all the different varieties of books people are reading. Thanks all for the recommendations!

I just finished the Queen of Babble and can't wait till the Queen of Babble in the Big City comes in at the library. Now I will read my two magazines that came in while I was reading the book to hold me over.

Default Re: What are you reading?

I'm reading 2 books by Michael Ruhlman: "The Making of a Chef" and his latest book, "The Elements of Cooking".

The Making of a Chef is a non-fiction account of what it's like to be a student at the renowned Culinary Institute of America. I find it extremely riveting; in fact I like the book so much I know I'll be reading it again at some point.

The Elements of Cooking takes all the relevant information a chef must know and offers it up for the home cook. This book is teaching me A LOT!

I am reading "Love in the Time of Cholera" right now.

I couldn't read my current bookclub book "The Golden Compass" -- I am not a fantasy reader.
Just got done reading Queen of Babble in the Big City. Another cute book but it sets it up for another book, maybe. I have 2 more reserved at the library, hope they come in soon! I still have my magazines I put on hold.

Any one else reading anything really good????
