TV21 Downton Abbey - anyone else watching?

Hubs and I love this show! We didn't see Season 1 but we can't wait for Sunday nights for the next one in Season 2. I ordered Season 1 - should be in any day now.

    Anyone else a fan?

Oh yes. I was hooked on Season 1. lol Even hubby likes it. We'll watch it in repeats even. It replays here twice on Sundays, once real late on Wednesday nights (I think) and again real late on Saturdays. I adore Maggie Smith. Even if the words themselves aren't particularly funny, she pulls off that deadpan, highhanded snottiness that makes it hilarious.

It ;s one of my favorite shows along with Amazing Race. I love the costumes, the vehicles and the old-timey-ness of it. I think they've done a wonderful job.

I have Season 2 taping on my DVR but I was waiting to see if they were going to replay Season 1. I know I could probably pick up alot of what's going on without watching Season 1, but I am the type of person who has to know exactly what is going on. I think they replayed Season 1 before Season 2 started, but I had just found out and missed it. Do you know if you can watch Season 1 online somewhere? I haven't looked into that yet :-)

Yayyy!! Some other fans. We can't wait for Sunday nights!! They show the previous week's then the new one back to back. Then, I think on Monday, they show the new one again.

rebate_queen - We didn't see Season 1 but Hubs said he saw part of the last show just before Season 2 started recently. I'm not sure if they had just wrapped up the entire Season 1 or if they just did that one episode. I ordered it off Walmart.com ($20) - I just have to go pick it up and then restrain myself from sitting and watching 4-5 hours of it straight!! I don't know if there is a place you can watch the others - maybe your PBS station.

If you want to get tons more info check this but there are some spoilers there so beware if you don't want advance notice of some upcoming events. It was particularly helpful filling in gaps about Season 1.

Merc - Oh ditto on Maggie Smith. She makes the whole thing even more worthwhile. When she was on the phone talking to "Shrimpie" and hemming and hawing I about died laughing. And she was about as subtle as a sledgehammer when talking to the priest (or vicar, whatever he was) about marrying Daisy and William. LOL

Do either of you think the woman that plays Rosamund - Violet's (Maggie) daughter - looks a good bit like Maggie Smith? I think there is a good deal of resemblance. It just makes it easier to believe she's her daughter.

We watch the replays too - I wish we could figure out how to record on our machine - there are always a few things I miss so seeing it twice I can sometimes have a complete viewing!

Just FYI on Barnes and Noble they were offering a free $5 gift card (I think) when you pre-purchase Season 2. I think it was $30. It's an extreme rarity for me to spend on something like this but I just might buy Season 2 as well - I have a B & N gift card I need to use anyway.

Renee, I think they did replay Season 1 right before Season2 started, or at least a few of the episodes, but like I said I didn't know about it in time. I read about the series in a magazine, and then my aunt said she watched it and got me intruiged.

So, I've been meaning to look online to see if I can watch them anywhere. If not, I may just go ahead and watch Season 2 and then fill in the gaps. Thanks for the website :-)

They did replay the whole season 1 before starting season 2. If you haven't seen the whole thing, you should. THere's lots of good stuff in there.

The characters you love to hate:
    Thomas
    Mrs.Bates
I forgot her name...the one that's Thomas "buddy" that's Cora's (Mrs. Grantham) lady's maid. Can't believe I forgot it. lol

I really can't decide who's my favorite actor/actress. They are all so good. So who thinks that Matthew may walk again? Will he end up with Mary or will he go back to Livinia? Will Anna and Mr.Bates get married? Will Mrs. Bates be a thorn forever or will she get her comeuppance? Will Sybil and the chauffeur run off together? Will Edith have an affair with the village dude she drove the tractor for that his mother didn't like?

Season 1 is on Netflix! I've been watching it and Sherlock. Love them both!

I have it all ready to play on Netflix, but I can't get a quiet moment!
Wish my dd was here to watch with me- I texted her at college to ask if she had seen it- she's the one I'd watch stuff like this with...
But on the bright side her younger sister is starting to appreciate the same kind of stuff, and she might watch with me if she ever stays home long enough...

We like SHerlock too. And INspector Lewis. Usually all the Masterpiece Mystery ones are good. Sure a far cry from the original dry Masterpiece from way back when. I now wish I'd watched Upstairs Downstairs. Never saw it.
