    TV21 The Big Waste

Anyone else see this show? Yes, they pointed out how much food is wasted by farms, stores, restaurants, etc. But why did they act so shocked about it? Surely they already know this. Those chefs are...well...chefs! Do they not know how much food their own restaurants waste? And why did they serve the food to all the celebrities? Wouldn't it be better to feed the needy with it? I think it was a waste of a show.

I didn't see the show. It does stink how much people waste food. sometimes it is hard not to. I run a daycare and do it on a daily basis. I am required to serve each child a certain amount of food, but can't make the kids eat. So if they don't eat it, it goes in the trash. I am hoping to cut down on food waste after i done with daycare in a few years.
I would of course compost, as well as maybe freeze or make new things out of leftovers. Heck, right now i take the end peices of bread that no one eats and make homemade breadcrumbs and freeze them.

This one of my goals this year. I have substantially cut down on how much we waste, but i'd like to get it to zero. I try to make sure I have several things in line for food. I freeze little dibs and dabs of stuff, and keep and inventory. I also FoodSaver, can, dehydrate, and make my own bread crumbs, too.

I liked the show. Yes they are chefs & they see the waste in their own establishments however; I feel they tend to see what is in their own little world & don't stop to look at the big pic just like the majority of people do. So; I can see where a bit of amazement would come into play. I also think it was meant to be more of an eye opener to the public.

As far as who was fed I agree. I think the homeless, soup kitchens, etc. should have been fed along with several celebrity judges.
