I was thinking the same thing. A lot of food bank shelves around here were empty before the holidays. I'm sure they will be empty again soon. Most are not picky-my last donation drop took all the perishable goods...and were very grateful. If u are hungry, u will eat "regular" pasta as opposed to "whole wheat" pasta. I guess they just want them to eat better??? Not sure.

Back on subject--my husband just searched and is recording this extreme show special...what can I say, I'm curious!

Uhhh - for realz, I only watched the latter half and I can't those 30 minutes back sooooo, my recommendation - don't even look it up... Spend your time with MEEEEEEEEE instead ~ that's a more worthwhile pursuit

Yes, I know people (or at least some people) can use what they got. But it isn't exactly going to feed them! They are getting a bunch of crap junk for free and donating it and then acting like they did a good thing.

Our food bank here is very picky as to what they want. They have an actual list. Whole grain pasta, brown rice, whole grain crackers. No sugar. And they don't really need beans because they already have a source for them. I don't know what they would do if a person tried to give thousands of bottles of Pepsi to them. I don't give directly to them. I just use the donation bin at the grocery store.

So far the Pepsi guy got it all for totally free. The others saved over 99%. And the one woman had a bunch of clumping cat litter! I think somehow a lot of rules are being bent for this one.
EC in general ~ my feeling, Yakisoba, Mahatma, lots and lots of vitaminwater, pretty much the same foods shown over and over again - just different peeps buying is all oh wait.. and of course the mandatory - deer in the head.lights lookie - "will the register take all my Qs?"

well for the reuseable toilet paper thing. I could not stand that setting in the bathroom for a full day/two/or 3 waitting on a load to build up(NASTY)..my mom cant flush real TP now for it gets all clogged up so it goes in a trash can and took out evey other day well that alone kills me me.

I think that the reuseable ones can be cleaned but I also think that it would not be so soft when used...I dont really know tho

I saw this on another tv show one time and it seemed gross then and still does..sorry I was not a cloth diaper user either. Just not my cup of tea(so to say)..

As for expired food many times there is nothing wrong with expired food. The date does not mean the food is no longer good. The date is for the best freshness of the food item. I saw something on the Food channel and the FDA talking about it a long time ago. We eat some foods that are out of date before and it was fine. I have problems with out of date stuff from the frig tho for sometimes that kind of stuff goes bad before the freshness date is out on it.

As for the goat heads that is not for me either! reither wash and reused cloth tp.

On another board some lady special ordered 60 Charmin at CVS...maybe she could donate to this family.
