Although they didn't show Erin using food stamps, there was a yellow line on the register display that clearly said food stamps. And on some transactions there was a total in there. So I believe they sort of deceived us as to her out of pocket amount. She was using food stamps for part of it. And most people wouldn't be able to do that.

I didn't notice any food stamps on there. I am going to have to go back and look. So you are saying they only listed the oop as the cash she had to pay for non food items? I would think they would add food stamps as a from of payment and include that amount also as oop.

Ok I just went back and watched it. I don't think she paid with food stamps. The food stamp total was under the total on the screen. What I am thinking is that food stamps will not pay tax. So maybe they have the second price (food stamp price) listed on the screen along with the cash total. IDK why a store would do that though. But the foodstamp total was up as they we still ringing up items.

Has anyone else noticed that on the show recently that they show "Food Stamp total"? Fair assumption that they are using foodstamps to pay. I am all for people who need foodstamps to use coupons to stretch their budget, but the ones who have been on that show with that little remark on the computer screen have been working at decent jobs. Even if a family member needs them because of a disability, the show has no trouble mentioning that family member, so that is not the problem.

Are you sure they aren't showing "Food Stamp total" in order to show a pre-tax total? I don't actually watch the show so I don't know what episode you are referring to, though.

I just got bored. Couponing is really only fun if you are the one saving the $$$.

I doubt it. All the other times, it never showed Food Stamp total and actually showed people paying with cash, few times with a credit card. The shows I referred to, the people were never shown how they paid.

Does anyone know what store it was at. I just don't understand why it would say "foodstamp total" when she hasn't paid yet.

When I use them. The register says my total. Then I run the FS card like you would debit. Then the FS price comes off the total and I get a new cash total. Then I pay again using cash or debit or gift certificate for the balance. I have never had a store ask me before I paid if I was using foodstamps.
