Anyone else see this show? I was horrified. I am a dance mom and there is no WAY I would allow my daughter to go to that studio. That woman was sooo unprofessional and so overweight and out of shape! How could she possibly demonstrate proper technique.

And some of those parents. Just nuts!

Our studio has a dress policy that is more strict than some places and certainly more lenient than others. When you sign your kid up for classes, you are given the dress policy. If the child comes to class dressed inappropriately, and especially in a manner that could be dangerous to them or cause injury of course they will be sent ouf of class.

I was also horrified at how that studio owner acted at the convention. My daughter does not compete but she has been to two conventions and I think if anyone acted like she did, shrieking and yelling, somebody from the convention would have at the least pulled her aside and spoken to her if not ask her to leave. That was just sooo wrong.

My daughter's studio does very well at the conventions, often taking first or second place. During the classes there it is often students from her studio who are picked out to demonstrate because they pay attention. They quickly learn the moves and can do them. Nobody at her studio ever yells at the kids or talks to them in a demeaning fashion. And they know enough to have the kids try on the costumes several times, dance in them and then do a complete dress rehearsal to make sure there won't be any wardrobe malfunctions. One of the moms on that show was making the hats there at the convention! And two days prior they were still learning their dance. Eek!

I watched the show - kinda for the train wreck factor.... I do think Abby is intense and a little much and the mothers are catty- but I also enjoy the craziness of the show - I like it just for the wow factor if nothing else.
