I'm hooked on this show too. It is just a really good family drama where the family happens to consist of one man, three wives and their kids. This show has actually softened my views on polygamy. Before watching the series I would have said I was completely against a man having multiple wives. But these days I'm thinking, it it not something I could ever choose, but if some adults freely choose to live this way then why not? Lots of men cheat on their wives and this is not against the law, but seems far more wrong to me than having two wives who know about and accept the situation.

Last year DH went to South Africa where polygamy is legal, but people have to choose. When they get married, they choose if they are going to do the "traditional" thing and have a polygamous marriage, or if they are going to do the more modern thing and just have 2 people in the marriage. If they choose polygamy then no divorce is allowed, but if they choose a modern 2-people marriage then they can potentially divorce. I thought it was an interesting compromise.

I finally saw the short episodes. I was at my brother's house and he has On Demand. They didn't show them on Dish, I tried 3x to watch them. I sat down 10 minutes before they were supposed to start and stayed until the following show started. Probably because Dish doesn't offer On Demand so they don't want you to see what you could have, KWIM?

Anyway, do they change or are they the same 3 on there all the time? The ones I saw were when Nicky had her first baby, when Bill first brought Margie home, and when all 3 wives hit up Bill about buying 3 houses in Sandy.

I don't think this show would soften me to polygamy. It is SOOOOO atypical. Margie was Catholic, all 3 wives were of age, the kids are all "recognized" by their father and have social lives outside the home, and more of the aspects of the show do not line up with most polygamist families.

Yup, those are the only 3 three that are on On Demand. There are also two little mini documentary type things...

And is it just me or is this show getting REALLY good?? I never know what will happen from one minute to the next. It's like things are kinda falling apart all around them. And how funny is it that Nicky is hooked on bingo now? LOL!

Oh my goodness! Nicky! She has 'compulsive' written all over her. Compulsive shopping getting her WAAAY into debt and now gambling. It's about to get really ugly. When she swiped all that money i was thinking "Ok, stealing isn't right but perhaps she'll do something good with that money, like pay off her massive credit card debts." Oh well, I suppose i was just overly optimistic.

I sure don't like how the spouses aren't upfront and honest with each other. Bill hiding the Weber gaming from his family - when it WILL affect them all, Barb meeting with the dad of her daughters friend, Nicky and EVERYTHING she does! And Margie, well... I think she's faking some 'key' factors that the other spouses might find quite important (like when she talked about faking praying). Anyhow, that's just my take on it all.
Love the show, but it's getting quite dirty at times!

OMG, I totally know what you mean. My first thought was "Oh, she's gonna give the money to Bill so that he doesn't have to keep the gambling company" LOL

They are all wacko... and even though they're a family, there isn't a whole lot of real, honest communication going on... too many secrets, too many lies. But I guess that's how it is with families sometimes.... even a seemingly perfect one. :(

Still, I think it makes for great TV, lol... I don't think I've been so addicted to a show since... Melrose Place!! :P

I'm totally addicted to this show since we got HBO and of course, my little TV God - TIVO...

I can't believe Nicky has started gambling - and at BINGO of all things!!!!!!!! Bill bringing her into that situation probably wasn't the brightest idea he's had... and it cracks me up cause it should TOTALLY go against her religious ideals! Ooooh Good GOOD TV

That is what I thought too. Or that she would use the money for the family somehow. I guess I was putting myself in her place too much. Like, "what would I do with a pile of cash?" socking it away for the family? maybe, Bingo? Never! But then this is Nikki she is never to be trusted is she?

This is how obsessed with the show I am. Whenever I look at clothes I try to categorize them according to which wife would wear them. Sometimes I look at what I am wearing and think "This is like something Barb would wear."

How pitiful!

Anyone know how many episodes they are doing this year? I saw online that there are only 3 more new ones!! I hope they extend it!

I like the show. I think Chloe Sevigny does a wonderful job playing Nicki.
