    Default Politics of ER

I think the newer episodes are too preachy. Todays episode featured an illegal alien who was on a hunger strike because her son was being deported.

Then there is the lesbian who was orphaned who finds her birth mother only to find she is a christian who does not accept her.

I watch scripted TV to be entertained, not to be preached to. I used to love the show when the mark greene character was on. Now, not so much.

I haven't watched the show since Mark died. I used to love it. Good to know I'm not missing much.

I think you are watching reruns (on TNT, I think). They are on the last season on Thurs. nights now.
Last week (maybe week before) they had Mark return. He treated the son of the now ER Chief (angela bassett, I think). The little boy died and now years later his mom works in the same ER he died in. It was when Mark was still working and doing chemo. They even had a few scenes with Dr. Romano (the one that was always an as*, but you knew deep down he was ok, then the helicopter got him).
I've always loved ER, I'll miss it when it's gone.

It is all about the drama. I mean really how can one ER staff be afflicted with small pox, anthrax, brain cancer, suicide, murdering psychopath mental patients, stillborn babies, getting limbs chopped off by a helicopter and then being killed by a helicopter falling on you years later....it goes on and on....Really what is the likelihood that all that will happen to the staff of one ER? I don't think it as preachy as it is ridiculous....but I still love it. :)

If you are watching reruns, then it just gets worse.

They are constantly putting in liberal type politics, heck last year, before the primaries started, someone was wearing an Obama shirt. Its just like normal NBC tv. VERY politically infused. Once it goes off this year, (and I hate it, I have watched it since the first episode, as has my hubby). I will not be watching anything else on NBC.

I try to ignore most of the 'messages' they put out there, knowing that Hollywood is extreamly liberal and it cant be helped. But, it will start affecting how and what I watch from here on out.

    Long time ER viewer here.
I think they jumped the shark when the chopper fell on Romano.
I have found several episodes interesting and touching since then, but it's never regained that ER magic from the 90's.
The recent episode with Mark was depressing as it's from an especially trying time in his life, not from happier recent times such as when he & Elizabeth were expecting Ella. Jerry looked too old too. I would have loved to see Hathaway, Lydia, Lewis, or Carter mixed in there.
