    Default Is this considered plus-size???

I saw this on the MSN homepage:

My first thought was, "That's considered plus-size?"

My guess is that most women would not mind looking like that model, lol. Wouldn't a plus-size woman look at that pic and think, "That will never fit me!" or am I wrong? :shrug7:

I think most "plus-sized" models are size 10 - 14. I also think the average size of an American woman is 14. So, most "plus-sized" models are actually smaller than the average woman! Makes no sense.

That's just crazy, lol. I mean, what's wrong with being a size 10? Didn't women used to aspire to be a size 8?? What's the norm now - size 0 or 2?

Well, Marilyn Monroe was a size 10. But, as Americans have grown larger, so have sizes. I think she would be closer to today's 6. There is also a big disparity in sizes across price points. A size 10 at Target or Wal-Mart is smaller than a size 10 at Neiman Marcus. The thinking being that if you're paying that much for clothing, you should also get to think you're smaller than you really are.

I think it comes down to just feeling good about the way you look and the way your clothes fit - unless they start sewing size tags on the outside of clothes!

Ok, (puts on flame suit here) she does look plus sized to me. She looks good, but her hips won't fit in anything less than a 16.

Lol... no, no flaming. ;) I just think that even if she is a size 16 -- like you said, she looks good. And a girl shouldn't care so much if she's a a 6 or 16 -- because you can look good at either size.

Hmm, but I'm having trouble believing that she's a 16....

I was watching america's next top model last night and there are two plus sized models on there and they said they were size 8/10. I guess I'm plus size then? lol

Well, she is fairly busty too....bet she can't fit those into any single digit sizes.

I think she looks plus size as well (according to the 'standard'), but that is not to say that she looks bad. She may be a bit bottom heavy, but just a bit. A wrap dress seems like a nice selection for her size/figure.
