1. If you are a parent, what are the most important issues to you? If most of your responses are parent related (education, etc.) do you feel at all selfish for not making global issues a priority? Or do you try to make both global and personal issues a priority? Well, most of the time global issues really only come to play with our national elections not local, state elections. Who I vote for city council has little to nothing to do with global issues. I do take into account if I think an official for a national position will do a crummy job at national security BUT if I had my choice of the elected official wants to save africa or wants to save the USA..I'm going to choose the one the wants to save the USA..cause that is where I live. It's not that I hate Africa..I just don't think we can fix everything going on over there...KWIM?
2. Do you vote all the time? Most of the time? Have you ever contacted one of your local politicians, either one in office or one running for office? What was it about? I vote all of the time. I have not contacted a local politician..I did email Mitt though
3. When you see candidates with kids, do you feel that you can relate to them better (if you are a parent)? Do you think kids have a place on the campaign trail, why or why not? No I do no think that politicians can relate better if they have kids..they have proven to me that they can be just as stupid if they have children. Do I think they should drag their kids on the campaign trail? Not really, other then maybe for short amounts of time..as that is a long time to not see a parent.
4. How do you feel when a politician takes an issue that is personal to them and makes it political? Which example are you thinking of? I think it can be okay, and sometimes it's absurd..because the longer a politician has been in office the longer they get out of touch with reality.
Good example: President Obama watching his mother slowly die of cancer stressing over her medical bills.
Bad example: Rick Santorum telling us he doesn't need "Obamacare" because he has good insurance for his disabled child..thus no disabled child needs ObamacareYet Rick Santorum has the insurance that every senator and House of Rep get FOR LIFE. And because of Obamacare his child no longer will max out on that plan, and can stay on that plan if she is able to make it to an adult longer ect ect. I'd like to see Rick Santorum not have Obamacare and try to purchase private insurance for his disabled daughter...oh..no..possible... He's a fool.
5. If you're not a parent, or if you're the parent of adult children (hence issues like education may not be as important) what issues are important to you?
Well I'm a parent...so I guess I can't answer this question..but I'm going to answer it anyways.
I am disgusted by Rick Perry and Ron Paul assertion that we don't Need the Department of Education..that we should toss that out the window. The Department of Education is currently working on trying to see if they can legally get my son back in school. They are working on thousands of cases just like my son where Public schools and other entities are screwing with people's civil rights. It is a HORRIBLE IDEA to get rid of the Department of Education..and pathetic to grown up men are so clueless that they don't realize what those departments do...that or they just don't care.
