It was the kind you made by looping yarn around a octogen shaped frame.

Sure, I wanted the fancy doll house that other kids had, but I'm glad I didn't have it now.
Yeh back then I did want one that is. I knew better to even ask tho. Back then it did not really get to me much for I was use to NOT having want others did. But now days I think kids that dont have so and so are really done wrong even by teachers these days. I can see the differance in the way some kids are talked to by teachers compared to others, not out right mean but not the same. I dont ever remember any teacher being different to me than to anyone else that had more than I did.(I would have notice trust me)..

Having what I did and going threw what I did made me the person I am today. We take from our childhood what we want to,we let it drag us down or we dont.

    I wasn't either, but then...not sure I would've noticed.

Speaking of dolls...I made some doll furniture for my little cousin several years ago. It was really neat. I made it out of that plastic canvas & made little cushions for the chairs & a mattress for the bed. Wish I had the patterns for them when I was a kid.

I don't see why it matters if a kid has the newest whatever...and how the teacher knows unless they are sitting there asking the kids who has what at home. And if a child is complaining to the teacher that they don't have such and such then the child needs to be taught that material things don't matter in the grand scheme of things. Yet another reason I am glad we will homeschool.

I had that Barbie house, but I preferred the houses I made myself as I got older...that house wasn't big enough for all my dolls to live in. Beds from foam with blankets that were old rags of my dads, tables that were the little 3 legged white "tables" from the center of the pizzas, etc.

It should not matter but it does...teachers find out from hearing kids talk to each other. Usually you can spot the ones that dont have what others do pretty easy. Now days teachers (here) want to please the "in" kids instead of the whole class room.

Plus usually after my boy went back to school after christmas the teachers would have the write a thank you note/letter to santa then read it in front of the class as homework...that is one sure way to know who has what to give their kids..

Life now days(even as a kid) is based to much on what you have instead of what kind of person you are. Shoot I dont have a new car to flash to everyone but i have my car titile which means more to me..there payment book makes me want LOL...

I had a Dolly one I wish I still had her so I could have gave her to my little one..not sure what the others were I had but do know that one..

I too had the Barbie house pictured by a PP! The Barbies used the elevator sometimes as an elevator and sometimes as another bathroom. We also had the big Barbie camper too. That was so much fun!

I bought a Barbie house for my oldest DD several years ago on ebay. It is not technically a "Barbie" house but a doll house for the exact same size dolls as Barbie. It is particle board and plastic and she has had a lot of fun with it. It came with some furniture, but the next year I got her a deluxe furniture package--it was a LOT of money but the refrigerator lights up and there is a candelbra on the dining table that lights up and the washer and dryer turn, etc. The whole set takes about 25 batteries to run. It was all just handed down to my younger DD and she will stay in her room for HOURS at a time playing with it. She likes setting the table and fixing up bedrooms for her favorite ones.
