    Default Mad at ups!!!!

Explain this to me, I have been tracking a Christmas gift that i got. Found out today UPS gave it to the US postal service in Stanton KY (which is about 20 miles away) so that USPS could finish the delivery. Saves UPS a trip. But now there is A big brown UPS truck sitting next door..... and they saved gas how?

This is a small town we only have that 1 UPS driver!!!!!!!

A LOT of companies do this now....it is how UPS and Fedex are doing deliveries both. I ordered a doll from DD, it shipped UPS, got delivered to the post office 20 minutes away about 3 hrs before the UPS truck went by my house....got the doll the next day.

It is how UPS and FedEx are saving $$, businesses are saving $$(based on this type of shipping) and well somebody has to pay USPS and use them to deliver something.

I think it has to do with fewer UPS stops at houses where USPS already stops. In my small town, there is only 1 UPS truck to deliver packages to businesses and 10K residents. That's a lot of stops (especially at Christmas), so they divvy up the work with USPS who already delivers to your house.

Your package may not have been delivered today anyways. Maybe it was on tomorrow's route making an extra trip down your street. Just a thought. Will it be late since it's coming USPS?

No, it is not UPS's decision as to if USPS delivers the package or not. There are different service levels that the shipper can pay for, and they get what they pay for. For example, Next Day Air will get the package there the next day, in most areas by 10:30, but it costs much more. Ground will get the package there by the end of the day in a couple days but is more reasonably priced. SurePost is where UPS moves the package quickly across the country to a USPS location, and a USPS postal carrier makes the final delivery, not a UPS service provider. If you want to be mad at anyone, talk to whoever sent the package. UPS does not do this to save money or to have less stops/work. They offer different options to the shipper and the shipper chose that option to save money.

If you want to think of it another way, basically the shipper is paying UPS to deliver the package to your local USPS location. The shipper is then paying USPS to deliver the package to your house. If you look at the label on the package, you should see two different addresses. One is your address and the other is the address of your local USPS location.

American Eagle uses Surepost to deliver mail. I was a little irritated when I learned that my package was going by Surepost and not UPS.
It got to me on the same day it was expected though.

I thought of it as kinda crummy on American Eagle's part. I was paying for UPS shipping not Surepost, then again...when I went and looked over it all, it never did say UPS Shipping it only said Standard.

I do have to add that my UPS MAN is phenomenal. I bought my neice a cozy coupe and there was absolutely no way I could have been home to get it and he moved around a nasty old dog house from the entire side of the house to the front porch to make sure that no one saw the package on my porch [it was just in it's regualr little tikes box].

The day after he dropped that off I had a Scentsy order due to arrive, I left him a Christmas Card with a $10 Kroger card in there.
I've been getting A LOT of packages via ups..keeping him busy this holiday season! lol

I've thought that was really odd. My recent Lane Bryant online purchase came through the UPS to USPS method. I couldn't help but scratch my head because usually when we get something through UPS we get it from UPS. It took about an extra day to get here over the UPS-only method.

I live in an urban area in a complex and UPS delivers here just about every day. I don't see why they would hand it to USPS if they're coming here anyway.

As I posted earlier in the thread, the shipper is paying UPS to deliver the package to your local USPS location, not to you. Then the USPS is paid to take it from their location and deliver it to you. If UPS were to deliver it instead, the USPS would not get paid. End of story.
