People should not assume that someone swiping the tearpad are going to sell/trade/exchange them
LOL. That's precisely what I assume with, of course, a 10% chance of being wrong.
Anyway, I doesn't really matter. I predict it won't be long before tearpads have a note on them that says, "Only one per customer." Just another change to look forward to.

The discount chain MARC’S may have come up with a solution to prevent tearpad grabbing.
+
When a tearpad is available at Marc's ...
• they display just one of the coupons near the item
• they write VOID on it
• they include a message that the coupon is available at the Customer Service Desk
Now, for individuals that think that it is quite all right to grab many coupons from the tearpad in one visit …
Q) How do you feel about walking up to the Customer Service Desk and asking for many coupons from the tearpad or asking for the whole page?
Hmmmm.
Taking many coupons in one visit, people, it not the intent of the tearpad.

It is my opinion that coupons should not be sold on auctions like ebay (and the like).
No ands, ifs, or buts.
Even the very weak (okay, 'lame') disclaimer "You are paying for my yadda, yadda, yadda" does not make the dirty deed right.

If stores do not want their booklets, tearpads, hangtags, blinkies, peelies "stolen", they can be proactive by putting them @ the CS booth and give each customer that asks ~ one or two, at most. That way, they have control of how many a customer is getting instead of making it "free for all" in all aisles. That may be an added "duty" to whoever is working @ CS; however, this is also subject to favoritism if one happens to be a "friend" of the CS personnel, they may be given more to fully satisfy them
From what I understand, these coupons are placed there by vendors that are paid by the manufacturers. I don't know the percentage of retailers that keep an eye on such coupons @ their store but I'm surprised to read there are stores now that will go the extent of "arresting" one who takes all the tearpads. I hope whoever was arrested go to the media for their side of the story and it will be interesting if they file counter charges for being accused of "stealing" something that's free.
I am *not* condoning the action of tearpad/coupon thieves in stores, my comments are based on the story presented.

I always wondered about that,..Then in a way the tearpads, peelies, and blinkies are a contract between the manufacturer and that specific store they are found in. You don't always find the exact tearpad, peelie, and blinkie coupons in each different store or grocery chain--especially Target seems to have a lot of manufacturer peelies not found elsewhere. Again, I don't understand how sellers on ebay can sell tearpad, peelie, and blinkie coupons....I just can't understand how the seller can have 100's at a time to sell without some kind of abuse taking place to get/ have that many to sell. Doesn't pass the sniff test![]()
I'd imagine it would only take one fresh tearpad to get around 100
and then just a few stores with the same tearpad to get the hundreds more.
I have no issue asking for more than a few. What is the worst they can do, say no?
Not EVERYONE who takes more than a few tearpad coupons are eBay sellers or even big traders.
I took a bunch of $3/2 J&J. I took a bunch of .55/1 Vitaminwater and I used THEM ALL. I didn't sell them for my time. I used them on vitaminwater and band aid kits,.
Years ago, I read the story of a blinkie lady fired from her job when she was reported to be selling blinkies online. Whether they were just extras or about to expire that she was selling online, it was not mentioned. It must be a violation of their agreement that blinkie ladies are NOT supposed to give away the blinkies that are supposed to be put in stores (not even for their personal use). I think they agree to trash them when there are extras left (soon as the campaign has ended). I don't think they'll be caught if they keep extras for their personal use, but to sell them online is a violation of their contract and it is usually the buyers that turn them in to SS.
I find it interesting that some retailers go to the extent of monitoring vendor coupons @ their stores while the rest don't care on who gets them, how many they get, and what purpose they have for getting quantities of such coupons. While I understand any retailer has the right to ban any person doing such activity, having them arrested is way over the top
If ever there should be control, I think it should come from the manufacturers with cooperation of retailers. Monitoring coupons in stores is add'l work and may not be welcomed by store personnel assigned to it w/o getting extra pay![]()
I think the blinkies are all accounted for and when they return them they weigh them..I remember reading something about this somewhere.
I bet stores LOVE it when they have tearpads next to products. There are still people out there that don't coupon like "we" do.
They see a coupon and think its a great deal.
