She had to have taken other things from the store. Yes the tearpad theives who take them and sell on ebay annoy the crap outta me too. I can not imagine it is theft though. Unless it was clearly marked one per customer or something I would be hiring a lawyer ASAP if I were her.

Yes, arrested for theft. Apparently, they had her on video surveillance numerous times taking whole pads of coupons that were up in the store.

I know that I rarely find any at my stores because there are always just empty cards, and I'm not intending to start a debate on the ethics of how many to take. I'm just giving a heads up to those who take large quantities of coupons. GE is watching, and they have already arrested someone for doing exactly that.
This is not one of those "changing policy rumors". It's an actual event that happened this week, and it wouldn't surprise me if other stores did the same thing.
Well I imagine they can arrest someone for anything..but they can't actually charge them..aka it's not a criminal act so not sure what the point of arresting them was.

The store might find next time the police may tell them..no. Cause it's not like the DA is going to charge them with a crime. what the store is asking them to do is a waste of the police's time. The manufactures put them out their for a reason.. Yes the person is a jerk for taking them all at once, but it's not a criminal act. I agree, they should just ban the person, and tell them not to come back or they will be considered trespassing.

This link explains it all : )
    Coupon Information Corporation: Consumers

"Please do not take every on-pack, peelie, blinky, or tear pad coupon you find. Just take what is appropriate for your personal needs and leave the rest for other shoppers. Taking an entire tear pad is inconsiderate to other couponers. Do not take a peelie off a product unless you intend to purchase that product"

    Inconsiderate but not illegal

my stores dont put out coupons very often at all, I mean maybe 3 items a year if that.....so I cant really say much on this other than if my stores did have them more often it would not be right for someone to take the whole tearpad and not leave any for others. So yes I think they should do somthing to stop this from going on.

I have saw some in my store in the past thats did say take one on them..

If people want to make this big of deal over some tearpads, they should hire someone to hand them out.

    “We have the technology …”

To make a tearpad that is difficult to take more than one at a time.

Blinkie dispensers do that with a type of delay between dispensing coupons.

Tearpad manufacturers and distributors need to do a better job.

Mr.Blinkie didn't stop me from taking a nice amount of those $3/2 J&J Coupons that were out a while ago.

I don't get too upset when I see empty tearpads.
Why waste your energy being upset over something so trivial. It is a COUPON. There will be more.
Maybe..just maybe, no one tore the entire stack off at one time. Maybe people took a few each until they were gone.
I try to think about it that way, no point in making myself upset.

If I saw a tearpad of coupons and there was only 1 left, you can bet that I'm going home with that 1 coupon. I'm sure most people would do the same.

Stuffing entire tearpads into purses is different though.

It is interesting that someone might think it is okay to take a large handful of coupons just because there is no sign that explicitly states “one per customer.” I say this because there is something explicitly written on almost every coupon – “Void if altered, copied, sold, purchased, exchanged.” Literally speaking, yes, someone can take big handfuls of tearpad coupons. Just as literally speaking, any coupon that is purchased or exchanged is no good.

My DH took a big wad of a Mountain Dew Tear Pad..He used every single stinking one himself People should not assume that someone swiping the tearpad are going to sell/trade/exchange them

Fairly certain it's the only tearpad he's ever taken and the only one he's interested in

P.S. as soon as the paperboy gives me my paper...the coupons have exchanged hands
