    QUESTION Feedback Etiquette...What is yours?

When it comes to feedback on any site, I try to be fair. Once a person has fulfilled their end, I leave the appropriate feedback. I have found that this same courtesy does not apply to me. On many sites, not just this one, I will find I will only receive feedback once I give it, even when I fulfill my end of the obligation first. I don't understand...so I am asking you. What is your feedback etiquette?

This has happened to me a lot and makes me mad, but I may just be over-thinking something small. My feelings are, when you receive your end the way it was described you leave feedback (even if you are the first party to leave feedback!) When you receive you leave, that is my policy. So if we are exchanging money for goods (ebay style) and I send the money before you send whatever, I should already have received feedback from you. Waiting for me to leave it for you seems wrong to me since I have already delivered my end of the bargain.

Again, just my thoughts on the matter and by no means am I singling anyone out. As I mentioned before this happens to me on multiple sites and is certainly not a reason to leave any of them. I just wonder what other people have to say. Anything? Let me know what you think.

    ...this is mine...what's your favorite?

I get what you're saying. I have been experiencing trades with newbies with less than 15 FBs and soon as we exchange NAZ, I send envie within 24 hours we agreed. I've noticed that 3 or 4 days after, they don't leave me FB. meanwhile, I don't get their end either. when I get their end, it is postmarked 3 or 4 days after the day I said I'd send my end. I can't help but think they waited to get my end I choose my battles and would rather not confront them; if they won't leave me FB, I won't leave one for them either.

I feel it is impolite to hold one's end w/o telling the other party that they would like to get their end first, before they send.

Well that depends... On any other site EXCEPT ebay, I leave feedback as soon as I receive. If I am purchasing something on ebay, I leave feedback as soon as I receive my item. If I am selling something, I wait until the buyer has received the item I sold to them and has indicated that they are happy with what they have received or if there is an issue, I wait until the entire transaction has been settled. That being said, I have never once left a negative feedback on ebay.

Also, I just want to say that people that leave no feedback whatsoever irk me to no end.

I only have one quirk: If it's a member that appears to only be here to make a buck & they don't bother to leave me feedback after I pay them instantly, they sho' ain't gonna get none.

Otherwise, I'm fine with it. But I'm also fine with pm'ing them for feedback...right up until they're ready to file stalking charges.

Honestly, sometimes I am mobile and replying to PM's...so if we trade and I'm mobile I don't usually leave feedback immediately (general 'you') because it's a PITA on my phone. But then, sometimes I forget to by the time I get to a computer...and when I receive YOUR (their) feedback, I go d'oh! And do mine then. It's not that I'm WAITING on them, it's that sometimes I can't really do it immediately or I forget.

It's also happened to where I've sealed a trade with someone, logged off and went to bed (or out, etc) and forgotten to leave feedback when I rec'd a payment, etc...but their feedback, again, sparks me to check to make sure I remembered to leave them some, too.

It's honestly not because I'm waiting for them to do so. I do try to be a prompt FB-er!

Well I know I am guilty of not leaving feedback until I get feedback but here's why: I have a HORRIBLE memory. If I get feedback that is usually when I remember that I need to leave it . I suppose I should be more organized and keep track of it but I have so many other things going on in my real life that feedback on HCW is one of those things that sometimes slips by. I do try to leave everyone good feedback that I trade with but I do sometimes forget. I hope people will just PM me or something and ask about it rather than just get mad for no reason. IMHO Life is WAY too short to stress over late feedback.

I agree with the above ^^^ and feel no animosity in getting a PM going "hey, you forgot to give me fb! "

This is not said to be rude. But I kind of just got over any feedback etiquette. I leave it when I receive my end, whether it be pp or an envie. If the other person doesn't leave feedback within a reasonable time (depends on trade), I'll PM them once, and then leave it be. If I don't get it, oh well.

Perhaps I care less because I already have over 300 unique trades. But I can't worry about it anymore. I have a life (GASP!) outside of couponing and HCW. I'm not trading to make a living, so that iTrader is just a number now. Besides, I'll never beat XUfan and get to almost 1000 trades, so I gave up trying.

I try my absoulte best to leave feedback as soon as I receive a trade. However, my mailman usually gets here around 4pm...which is exactly when everyone else gets home. I try not to spend a bunch of time on HCW or any other site when my husband is home, because I like spending time with him. So, I put the empty envelopes under my keyboard (yes, I have a desktop computer), and post feedback the next morning.

Like the OP, I have noticed that some people wait to post feedback until I do. I also have noticed (sometimes...not always), that the person waits to post the feedback if they haven't mailed their end yet.

Kind of off topic...but addressing the "waiting to mail" issue...

    Warning....prepare to :

During the summer, I made a trade with another member. I mailed my end the day we finalized the trade. Because I needed the coupons for a sale, I was worried when they hadn't arrived in a week (we live in the same area of the country). I was told, "I just received your end yesterday, so I mailed your coupons out today. " Um...really? This particular trader had less than 50 iTrader. And I had...well...LOTS more!
