Taste of Bagged Apples Vs. Loose Apples

The bagged apples are more likely to be cold storage apples from the previous year.

If they are apples that can be cold storaged for a year then they would have some SERIOUS chemical treatments on them. And I HATE that.
I think all apples at the store taste"different" but agree that bagged are worse. But I grew up eating fresh apples and still do,in season. During the off months when I have to buy at store I am bothered by the 'chemical' taste. That does make a difference. I can not stand that coating on some of the fruit. UGh
And this year our local orchard crop failed due to weather. So no yummy local apples. UGH!!!

I buy loose Fuji. I only like fuji. Fuji rocks!

Problem with bagged is half of them are rotten.

I've read what supersavory said - a lot of the apples we buy are stored from months ago.

I do buy bagged apples from Sam's Club - they are high but they are always good and very flavorful and juicy. I also buy occasional loose apples on special when I need fruit for lunches and if it smells really good.

But OP you are spot on about the taste and not just for apples either.
